I'm very happy to hear everybody is going to have some good old fashioned family time. I'm excited for when your daughter get backs home Bob. And PH, instead of the vodka maybe have a ginger ale. You get the "burn" and awful taste of booze with out the actual booze 🤣

Woo to you guys💋

Thanks Shiela. Just got word a little while ago. Daughter and family are settled for the night. She called me from a Taco Bell.
There's no Taco Bell near where they live so grabbing a TB burrito at the first opportunity helps make the trip. :emot_laughing:

We have woods (trees) on the property adjacent to ours.  We clean up the leaves in the fall, I mulch with the lawn mower  what I can, but still have 15-20 bags of leaves come yard waste day pickup.  Then, in the spring, it's like we didn't pick up a leaf in years.  So, For the past three days we raked leaves from the lawn, landscaping, and  my flowerbeds.  We cut down my tall ornamental grasses. Put down fresh Mulch in the flower beds.  Power raked the lawn in both directions, then hand raked and picked up all of it.  Gave the grass a cutting. Then applied weed pre-emergent weed block with fertilizer (Scott's Step 1).

And now I rest.

I love yard work. Always a good workout moving muscles you don't normally use.  It feels like I did a thousand squats.  I will be demanding a massage tonight.

And I washed my car.  Need to give the interior a deep clean tomorrow.

We worked in the yard, at least till it rained. I went out around 8am to start in the garage. Move all the winter stuff back and move the summer stuff up. Get the lawn mowers both running and get the gas tanks filled. We only got the front mowed but still looks nice. Also found all the cushions for the yard chairs. One step closer to summer party’s.  ;D

I always have to take a second when an American uses the term yard to refer to what I would call a garden.  To Brits a yard is a concreted or other hard standing enclosure (or three feet)  ;D

Got the day off to a smashing good start. Family breakfast. Full attendance with wife's son,y daughter and son-in-law.

Great to have all of us together. Good conversation, great food, what more can you ask for.

Wife even got son-in-law talking. :D He's pretty much focused on rocks...his hobby. Daughter talked to wife's son about sports so conversation kept moving.

They'll be here two maybe three weeks so we have to pack in.as many visits as we can. :D

“The yard“ also refers to the outdoor area where prisoners are turned out to get their hour of fresh air and sunshine. Shawshank redemption.

As soon as I read your mention of Yard, Obi, I immediately thought you were going to mention a yard of ale.  Then I thought, but they speak in metric. So what would you call this?

Sounds like everybody had a pretty good weekend. Productive and good family time. Ita good to hear everybody doing things they love with people they love❤
Woo to all.

WMMD.  Allan and Dad met yesterday. I wasn't really nervous, but I did feel quite awkward about it. It felt very foreign to me.

It went really well from the beginning, with conversation ranging from how we met, to both of us being in the military. Dad making a few joking questions about how Army vs Marine works out, and or if rank makes a difference. In case you're wondering, Allan would have outranked me if we were still in the military.

Then sports came up, and Dad jokingly tried to kick Allan out for being a Bears fan. Allan's entire family are Bears fans, so when I meet any or all of them next week, I'll be sure to wear some green and gold.

Anyways about 30 minutes into that conversation, I ceased to exist to either of them. Even when I said I was hungry, and wanted to order some food, I got a "go ahead", and quickly disregarded... Really? Fine I'll play this game. I grabbed my dad's keys and took his truck to get some food. I ignored their texts once they realized I was gone, and I bought them both salads while I got myself a burger and onion rings. Not even what I wanted, but they would have. I gave them their "rabbit food" and took out my burger. I didn't even have it unwrapped before my dad was ordering a meat lovers pizza. Giving Allan crap for "letting [me] get away with that".

Since dad orders pizzas and I decided to eat a salad instead giving my burger to Allan, we now had too.much food so dad got ahold of Jason and Jen and I invited them both over for food and to meet Allan. Half hour later everybody was over and it turned into a whole big event. Everybody loved Allan, and we al had a fantastic time.

Another thing that made my day, was Dad announcing that he and his girlfriend had talked about her moving in with him. The plan is for her to ive completely moved in by the end of next month.

We keep imperial for some things. Draught beer is still sold in pints (but bottled beer in half litres ) and road distances are measured in miles.  We were supposed to keep imperial for all goods sold loose but that was quietly dropped because it became confusing for kids that never knew the full imperial system.  We would still call the above a yard of ale.

Young lawyer who does absolutely nothing, and never comes to work, never finishes a project, and never settles a case, gave his two weeks notice. He hasn’t been to work in two weeks, so I secretly suspect he’s already working someplace else doing nothing there and getting paid two places for the same thing (which is nothing). But at least he’s out of my hair.

Two good things here...
1) He's out of your hair
2) you still have hair for him to get out of

Daughter came by to go grocery shopping with me. It was good to have some help but frustrating as instead of helping, she tried to do everything. I mean I am able to do shopping on my own when she's not here. Guess I'll just have to swallow my male pride and enjoy all the help.

Got home and she pitched in and washed some sheets and the mattress cover. Lawdy, hearing her run up and down the stairs. It hasn't been that long since I could do that. She made the bed and I have clean sheets for tonight.

Need to find a way to get her here more than twice a year.

Blood sugar was at 81 this evening. Great numbers at a time when I’m cutting back more on my daily insulin injections
