I posted about my grandfather today in a Facebook forum. He died almost 50 years ago, but I was amazed by the comments of people who knew him... friends, employees, and customers. Really brought a tear to my eye, that he would be fondly remembered, so many years after his death.

That's awesome, it means he really must have made a positive impact on people, for them to remember so many years later :)

You all did.  As always I come back after an "episode" and you all make me smile again.  Well you and music.

Yesterday, one of my brothers was in town for a conference, and we spent about 5 hours sitting in Washington Square Park chatting.

That might sound like a common experience, but it was a real treat for me.

He lives in Houston, and he's the oldest of my three brothers. He's the first and I'm the last, and there's a 7-year age gap. Right now, our age difference doesn't matter, much but when we were kids, it certainly did. By the time I was 5 or 6, he was already in middle school, and he was in high school (and busy with many things) by the time I was only 7. We went away to college when I was 11, and he moved away when I was 15. So, while he was always a presence in my life, he wasn't often physically present.

He was always interested in me, even when I was little, and he would go out of his way to do things with me, one on one. He'd take me out to lunch, at one point when I was 10 or 11 he took me to a Neil Young concert (and my ears are still ringing), and things like that. But he was only around from time to time when he was in college, and he "left home" when I was 15, and in the ensuing 25 years, I've only seen him from time to time, typically at family gatherings back in Chicago. And even then, we've never had the chance to really talk, one on one.

So yesterday was a wonderful experience. While he has always seemed to see himself as my "protector" or "guardian," he knows I'm now in my 40s and our roles have changed. Still, being able to talk about things as peers and adults was so truly wonderful There was a lot to discuss, and if didn't have to leave at 6:00 to be back to his conference, we likely would have chatted for several more hours.

This absolutely put a smile on my face MissB. I am so very happy you were able to have such a great time with your brother. I hope that you're able to do such a thing more often.

Attended a fantastic AirExpo today. Featured a slew of WW II airplanes and a few modern jets. Very well organized. There were planes in the most the time, doing crowd pleasing, close fly-bys. I had my camera naturally.

Got home, loaded pics to the computer and discovered I have over a thousand photos to sort through. Will share a few in a day or two.

There was a B-17 taking people up for short rides. At $495 a ticket, I stayed on the ground.

My late father in law made 37 bomber runs over Germany, in a B-17. Memory eternal.

My "son" reached out to me today. The first time in months. He finally had the courage to ignore his mother, and think for himself. As shit things are at the moment, that small gesture meant the world.

Sunday I wrote how one of the cats brought a chipmunk into the house. It ended up in the basement where there's countless hiding places for the little critter.

Sunday we were out for dinner with friends. Turns out one had access to a live trap. He brought it over this morning along with a few peanuts and some other smell concoction that chippers are supposed to love. Mid at I checked and voila... little fella in the trap. Took out side and set free. Also dumped out left over peanuts in the yard where it hangs out. Small payment for terror kitty put it through. :D

As a single father of two boys, with two different mothers, I know how good that feels.  Never speak ill of mom, but give unconditional love, approval, comfort, and support.  Both of my boys live with me now.  Their mothers accuse me of teaching them to hate.  No, I taught them to love, and they finally could not imagine living anywhere else.

I remember how it was when I first talked to my dad after years apart. My mother had told me he wanted nothing to do to me. She would throw away cards and letters and stuff. He wasnt and isnt tech suave so no emails or anything like that. She had me convinced that his entire side of the family hated us. Wasnt until after me and her had a huge falling out that I reached out to him.  Through my uncle who was quite unsure of the whole thing gave me his phone number. He wont admit it, but I think he cried when I called him.  I had already enlisted to escape my mother and stepfather, otherwise I would have just went and lived with him.  We had 4 months to rebuild our relationship before I left for the Army.  I called him every chance I could get and before I knew it I loved him more than any person on this planet. Still do🥰💕💕💕

Sorry to hijack your good day love.  I'm happy for you.  Makes my heart smile Woo.🥰💖

Flirting with an online friend.  I say, “I’d really like to see your ass.” Thinking that would be the next step.  It’s like she went from the Dog Dare straight to the Triple Dog Dare, and sent me a photo of her kiska (pussy), in all its preternatural glory. Totally unexpected. Thoroughly appreciated.

Taking to the road shortly. We're low on cheese, so off to Wisconsin to restock. Stop first at wildlife refuge. August is a slow month up there. Still have hopes of finding some wildlife. ;D
