The lilacs are starting to bloom. The pretty smell of them hit me as soon as I step outside. We have a few bushes around where I work, and a wall of them where I live.  Love the smell of them.

I have a couple bushes, well lilacs I mean.  I’m a bit south of you, so mine bloomed about a month ago.  I picked a few to set on the table for the smell.

There are two lilac bushes on my block, and they came and went about a month ago.

Otherwise, the bush, like the lilacs, is trimmed but not completely cut down...

We have two different species of lilacs at my apartment. The more common purple flowers and they are nearly at full bloom today, and then we have a white lilac that will bloom a couple weeks later. they smell the same, just wish they stuck around a lot longer

This is not my "day maker"...it's for Jules. Yep, our fan girl will soon be able to watch her heartthrob Tom Brady on Fox TV. Did I say Fox? Yep, the Trump channel has made a deal with Brady for an unscripted show.

Don't think I have ever seen a white lilac bush. Thought the purple lilacs had peaked but the past few days, the fragrance from the purple lilac bushes as we walk has been stronger then ever.

I had a hearing scheduled today, in another court about 80 miles away from me. It’s one of those little 15 minute deals, but I was going to have to spend three hours in the car. I’m really not excited about getting back to face to face court proceedings.

I called the court this morning, and they were very nice, she said that the judge granted my motion to withdraw from the case, and I did not need to drive to the courthouse. So I just freed up my morning. Wish I hadn’t put on this coat and tie first.

The temps are cooler today, the sky is dark and gray, it's raining a little and there is a slight thunder in the distance.. :)

Most people enjoy warm, sunny days with blue skies, but I'm the kind of weirdo that finds this weather nice and cozy  :o

Wish there would be a little fog as well, but beggars can't be choosers  8)

Hitting the highway soon, heading for South Dakota. Photo trip to Badlands and Black Hills area. Wife didn't think she'd be able to do another trip, so I'm off on my first solo adventure.

Will stay in touch from the road. Have the hot tub ready for me when I get back next Tuesday. I'll need to soak my old body.

One of my favorite places.  Woo!

So much to see there, spent 5 nights there last year.  Have you been to the mammoth site in Hot Springs?

Never been to south dakota. Maybe I can convince somebody to take me, but not sure my jaw would hold up for that long of a drive  :emot_kiss:

Seriously though, I hope you have a great time and be safe on those roads. Maybe you could figure out where there are some good shops to get some cheese while you're out and about on your own.

I went for a small run around by the water yesterday, and all the geese have hatched, and now there are babies everywhere. Love those fluffy little things, but the male needs to stop hissing when I go by, i ain't doin' norhin' mister.

I didn’t know about the Mammoth site until my trip last year.

When I went in 2016 I saw the T-rex Stan in Hill City (dinosaur now sold) and hiked to the top of Harney Peak (now renamed Black Elk Peak).  So, things there change fast.  On the top of Black Elk Peak (an overnight backpacking trip in the Black Elk Wilderness) I met a guy at the top while drinking a beer.  I told him I was hiking to the highest point in each state and drinking a beer at the top.  He asked how many states had I done.  I nonchalantly replied, “Including this one, one.”  I got a laugh at least.

I love the Black Hills.  There’s a place in central Montana called the Little Rocky Mountains that is similar and worth a visit, just north of a nice section of the Upper Missouri River Breaks NM.  I camped in the NM in that section.

Apart from rain first half of my drive yesterday, I had a good trip. Been awhile since I've done a long solo drive.

Met up with a friend who works here every summer and headed to the park. It was in the 80s with bright sun. That may be why we didn't see many Bighorns. There were a couple with lambs and got a quick photo before the Mama's hustled them out of sight.

Went back after dinner and saw a small herd of ewes.

Not to mention avoiding stepping into goose poop as you run.  Worse then them hissing at you..... ;D ;D

Fantastic day in Custer State Park. Saw lots of Bison right off. Heavy fog, so early pics a bit dim. Brightened some.

Bison were very friendly. One put it's face right up to my window...by right up, I mean we were inches apart. Too close to even get my phone up for a shot, let alone my camera with a zoom lens. Yeah, they're smelly

Lots of calf's frolicking around. So fun to watch.

Such deja vu for me being there just 8 months ago.  Thank you for sharing.

The burros weren’t the only surprise last year, I stopped at the border of Custer State Park and Wind Cave National Park to take some pics, and turned around to find a couple pronghorns close by.  I wasn’t sure they were even local to the area.  Turns out they were re-introduced at some point.  Days later driving through SE Montana I saw hundreds of pronghorns, they were actual road hazards.

Got an REI anniversary sale flyer in the mail, and rather than order online, went there yesterday.  All I got were two pair of these Janji running shorts.  I’m not really planning to run in them, but they looked and are really comfortable for just sitting around the house in the evening.  They were 30% off, but still expensive at $66 regular, so I guess I paid around $90 for the two pair.  But I love them.

On narrow back road with twists and turns...up and down hills and fog. Before me appears a ramshackle, weather beaten building with a crude sign saying General Store. And there was a dim open sign.

Stopped hoping for a coffee and maybe a snack. Was greeted by a wonderful couple. They'd recently bought the place and it was their first day open. Lots of racks of outdoor clothing, and horse riding thingies...no idea what but looked horsey

Turned out they run a horse camping ground. People come with their horses, camp and ride the trails in the Black Hills. Neat!

And they had some food. Couple sandwiches, I got a Sloppy Joe and coffee. Lunch floor show included two cute little dogs who somehow got some of my sandwich

Guy was a great talker too. Was a relaxing break after hours of driving tough mountain roads and peering through dense fog.

Ya just never know what you'll run into on a trip.
