I'm in the process of having a dental implant put in. The implant was placed in the jaw months ago. Today, I was only supposed to be measured for the replacement tooth, but my dentist took note of the tooth next to the gap-which an earlier dentist had made a mess of. So, my dentist placed a temporary crown on that tooth. I am glad I scheduled this for a Friday afternoon as I am in pain now. I wouldn't want to work with this pain.
The next and final appointment will be scheduled on a Saturday, so I won't have to miss work and have until Monday to recover.

Just got word my best friend has his Covid shots scheduled. I was texting his wife Friday and she didn't know about the VA giving the vaccine.

I told her how to schedule him and today she thanked me for the help and said that enabled her to get him in.

He has COPD, really in bad shape. She's ended up being main caregiver.

Got to the gym early early this morning and had the place all to myself.  Tony, the trainer who works there let me play my music over the speakers, and had an awesome workout this morning followed-up by another quick 15 minute session at the spa.

First time in two weeks that I was able to take a shower. Felt almost as good as sex. Almost.  8)

Two weeks w/o a shower. And I thought it was the meat scraps in the garbage from last nights meal that was making that smell.

Well, it wasn't like I hadn't washed in two weeks... 8)  I  could have taken a shower if I had covered all the dressings but that would have been such a hassle. Just the feeling of standing under a shower and having hot water cascade down one's body.....Still can only use one hand though.

We are above freezing for the first time since Friday. The second longest continuous freezing period in local history. And, thank God, no broken pipes. So many friends are discovering they have water shooting out of their walls today. I maintained a slow drip on all the faucets.  It looks like everything made it.  That’s what I’m thankful for. What I’m still upset about is our ridiculous Texas electric grid continues to cycle out. So I have no power at the moment. It comes on for about an hour, then it goes off for an hour. And it looks like it may continue to be this way for a number of days. We had a lot of freezing rain overnight, and ice laden tree branches have downed power lines, adding to an already insufferable problem. But we are staying warm. We have salty snacks. We are almost out of beer. But this too shall pass.

My son came home from the convenience store, “The parking lot was glass!  They have no salt!  They have no cat litter!”  Taught my boys some Great White North survival skills, I did.

I missed this post yesterday. So sorry to you and everyone affected by this. We've got cold, but we're built for it. Loss of power in the winter is the worst - and the reason so many of us own portable generators.

That the houses have so little insulation in them that it is freezing things in peoples cupboards is just crazy. I never thought about that prior.
