Our city is holding a Maple Syrup festival this weekend. It was actually a Xmas gift to my niece (which she opened, read the note I wrote up explaining it, and tossed it to the side to open the next 'real' gift
)
So, we rented a tree in our city nature center. We visited the tree once last week. A guide took us to it. So far our tree has produced 12 gallons of sap. Well thank god I wasn't the one responsible to change out the bucket, the stuff would have flowed all over the ground. hahaha My niece got really excited and was interested for all of 10 minutes before she decided the woods needed exploring.
So tomorrow is the main day. They teach us about the process of converting sap to syrup.
The guided told me we might yield just under a 1/2 gallon from our 15 gallons the tree should end up producing. Their are a bunch of hands on stuff for the kids.
Then, we're dropping my niece off to Grandma and Grandpa's house and Mark and I are going out to celebrate St Patricks day. Uber will be my friend tomorrow. I have a sequin Kelly Green vest and a vary glittery green hat that I will be wearing, along with my flashing button that reads 'Kiss Me I'm Irish' (which I actually am), if the hat gets too uncomfortable, I have a headband with antenna's with four leaf clovers at the top. Oh, and my glasses that the lenses are shaped like beer mugs. My mostly Italian boyfriend will be wearing a hideous green sport jacket with a T-shirt underneath that reads 'Today Everybody is Irish'.
The couple we're going with, she, who is very well endowed, texted me a pictures of the shirt she is wearing. It reads, 'I put the Double D's in St. Paddy's day.' hahaha She's proud of them. Hey, she should be, they cost enough. And I was told that her husband will be wearing a Sparty Green Man suit. He's a huge MSU Spartan fan and there is this guy that they call Green man at all events with a body suit, like this.....
So, we plan on bar hopping. Should be fun. Nobody call me too early on Sunday, please.
