She doesn't...WHAT!? Challenge her to a lightsaber duel!

Kids all off.  Second cup of coffee brewed.  Fire in fireplace.  Christmas music on.  Tree lit.

I'm leaving for Florida this afternoon.  Goodbye freezing temperatures, snow, and overcast skies.  Hello salty sea water, sand, and sunny skies.

I'll be back in Michigan on the 30th.

I just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.  Enjoy this special time of year with those you love, and please be safe.

Here's the music playing in another window on my computer right now.
I love Michael Buble.  Oh, that voice.
I know if we ever met in real life we'd fall in love, get married, and have two kids.  A girl named Kate, a boy we'd name Michael.  And we'd live happily ever after.

Well...nearly froze my "jingle bells" off, but I spent over an hour at the edge of the airport waiting to see one of the last of Delta's 747s.  They're being retired and Delta is making a farewell tour to several cities. We were promised a flyover first and the plane came right overhead of where I was standing.  So huge!

Next, we waited for it's approach to the runway.  I'm there Monday thru Friday at the dog park, so I knew where to go for the best angles.  It seemed to be coming in so slow.  Don't know if that's because it's so much bigger that the planes I'm used to seeing or if it has a slower stall speed.  Got several shots as the plane came closer to the runway, then the frame of my camera was filled with just the forward section of the plane.  With my big lens it felt I could touch it.

As I spun to follow the plane's progress, I watched for the touchdown and the blue smoke from the tires hitting the tarmac.  The plane kept flying over the runway, just a few feet above the runway...and it kept going.  We all realized it was going to rise again and come around once more.

Waiting for the plane to return the cold really started to sink in.  Fingers were getting numb and I said if it doesn't get here soon, I won't be able to work the shutter.  The lady next to me said, "Try being out here in a skirt".  Damn, there she was in a short skirt with tights.  Guess she really wanted to see the plane.
It came back again and I got a second chance at shooting the approach.  Wonder how much fuel Delta  had to buy for that!  Again I tracked it to the runway and got the touchdown!  The finale landing of a 747 at MSP.

The 747 will visit a few more cities on the tour, then off the the Arizona desert to sit in the sand.  Seems like such a sad ending for a noble plane.  Seeing a 747 one more time and getting the pictures did make my day!

Well trained and been made compliant....by my cat Neville

Taking my oldest to the airport to go visit grandparents for the holidays.  He won’t be flying on a 747, only a considerably smaller 737.

My child’s mother left us when he was only 5 months old.  Seems her drug addiction was more precious than her blue eyed dimpled son.

But I want to say this about her parents.  They have always stayed involved, have always stayed in communication, and have refrained from criticisms.  When I remarried and had another child, they have treated him like another grandchild, and have included both children in family activities.  They are a model of how people should be in this era blended families.  I wish I could bottle them and market it for Christmas.

Oh damn, guess what I forgot?

After decades of listening to 'Christmas Wrapping' by The Waitresses, I finally recreated part of it.  I was at the Farmer's Market yesterday stocking up, and forgot cranberries.
So on with the boots, back out in the snow...  Oh wait, no snow.  ;D

However, I didn't see a cute girl at Sprouts *also* buying cranberries when I went back today.  Maybe it's because I didn't buy The World's Smallest Turkey from A&P.  Kinda hard as they went bankrupt 2 years ago.  The turkey would be pretty dry by now.

Remember the Golden Rule: you do me, and I\'ll do you (paraphrased)

I was joking about the “Great Christmas Food Riots of 2017” yesterday.  Kind of like the “Great Panic Buying Fuel Shortage of 2017” after Hurricane Harvey.  All one person has to do is post “they are running out of egg nog at HEB” on social media, and everyone descends on the grocery like hungry locusts.

I’m doing a beef Wellington, and got everything.  Looks like a Hap, Hap, Happy Christmas ahead.

My youngest is a very thoughtful, polite young man.  He overheard me say, “I wish we had more of these hand-painted ceramic mugs we bought in Paris.”  Well I’ll be damned if the little guy didn’t find one on an eBay auction, monitored it, and bidnapped it at 3 in the morning for a price he could afford.  It wasn’t the gift that delighted me, it was the time energy and thought that he put into it.

After my brush with death this year, I seemed to experience the holidays with greater acuity this year.  The sights, sounds, smells, and LOVE of the season kept me warm, and a little verklempt as well.

Waking up in the Florida Keys to enjoy a beautiful sunrise.   About 14 hours ago, just an hour down the road we were able to enjoy a beautiful sunset.  The weather is beautiful and we are trying not to think that we have to return to snow in Michigan in a few days.

My niece, my fiancee and his daughters are all still in bed while I am enjoying some alone time under a tiki hut yards from the Atlantic ocean with my coffee admiring the engagement ring I received on Christmas morning.

Congratulations Jules!  I am very happy for you!

The confirmed bachelorette is no longer I see, and that’s a good thing I believe.

I can’t compete with Jules’s earth shattering announcement, but we did go see the Nutcracker last night and had a pleasant evening on the River Walk.  Then we strolled past the Alamo and Travis Park, both of which were lit up for the holidays.  Very pleasant evening.  I love my wife.

While sprouting a boner during the coffee dance, it occurred to me that ballet was the Internet porn of the 19th Century.  Where else could you see a bunch of athletic women and men in tights, flashing the audience with every Grande Jeté?  Given the bulges on display, I’m sure many women were taken with “hysteria.”

I'm enjoying a quiet morning. I may have work today, and need to stop into another place to see if I have a second interview.
