1) USA
2) Netherlands
3) Cote d'Ivoire

Spain v. Netherlands on 6/13 should be a great match.

I'll also keep my eye on Belgium, for Bexy's sake.

Team USA stands very little chance of advancing out of the group stage, since they have Germany, Portugal, and Ghana...

I couldn't care less about soccer, but since the Belgians are doing well lately, it would be a bit silly to aupport teams I don't know at all.

I'm boycotting the city of Rio De Janeiro though after seeing this:

(the voice-over has a horrible Dutch accent, but the message is important nonetheless)

Dang Bexy.  Here I thought you were going down to Rio sporting a bra with the Belgian flag on it.  8)

I am going with Germany but will not count out an African team advancing to the finals.

USA had a friendly against Turkey yesterday. They had some highlights but for the most part we had no defense what so ever. Our goalies rocked the game and the forwards tried even if Jozy Altidore is in a scoring slump, he was taking shots on goal.

I do agree tho, they have no chance of advancing. I will still root for Neymar as I can't wait to see him break out and become a super star.

And this cup holds some weight with the premier league also as Chelsea is seeing a bunch of their star players leaving and well, PSG is looking to be rock stars next year!! Can't wait till that new team hits the field  8)

Game one in the books.

Brazil won 3-1.
Croatia's only goal was an own goal from Brazil. Neymar scored two and Oscar got the final spike. Great game.

So we have three games today with Spain playing at 3pm.

Even though they only stand a remote chance, I'm being patriotic and supporting England.

Does anyone see a lack of excitement for this years tournament though, as here in the UK there isn't the buzz that was abundant in previous years.

It's fucking crazy here. I went to the grocery store last night and there was a huge Mexico display in support of the games. I don't remember ever seeing this much coverage or support for World Cup here in Michigan

I get a warped view in NYC, but it seems to me there's more excitement here than in any previous year. And that's despite the very slim chances of the U.S. team advancing past the group stage.

So B, how messed up would it be if they advanced on points? I agree that they really have no chance at all but what if??

I'm with you CW... England followed by Brazil... but only because of their samba dancers...  ;D

Same here. I've never seen so many Belgian flags and Red Devil banners. Even during a royal coronation you don't see so many flags LOL. But then again, we *do* have a team that might get close to the finals... for a change!

I hear ya Vinney, but if I had to pick a 2nd team to support it would have to be Spain.

I'm still picking Germany in the long run but would love to see Brazil or Spain take it all.

Mexico just won their match.

Spain plays the Netherlands in an hour
Australia Vs. Chile later this afternoon

Tomorrows games could be good. We got Italy Vs. England and Japan Vs. Ivory Coast.

I like Ivory Coast so looking forward to that match

WOW! Holland are on fire! Excellent game. I may just have to change my 2nd pick from Spain to Holland if they continue in this form!

And, yes, before you ask, I am that fickle!  :emot_laughing:
