I'll have to track down The Shop Around the Corner. I was only familiar with the Broadway musical She Loves Me.

I do believe that the bags were originally filled with corn, and not beans. And they through the corn in the hole.

You're right. The game is very popular in the Midwest, where it's usually called "bags" or "bean bags." I've played it countless times (and I suck at it).

It's called corn hole in many other parts of the country, and it has no sexual connotation. For example:

The game has been referred to as "corn hole" since the early 1950s, or at least 40 years before Beavis and Butt-Head first aired.

From what I can tell, the term "corn hole" as a slang term for the anus has been around since the late 1800s. Originally, it derived from the fact that people would use an ear of feed corn to wipe their butts after using an outhouse, and from there it evolved into a slang term for anal sex.
