I still have and use my peeler, masher, and flour sifter. My dad has that exact coffee pot. The drive in theater in door county still has some of those speakers in the posts, but most are bare. It just comes through the radio now. The crockpot and electric skillet I havent used personally but I've had food from both.

However there are quite a few things on this list that I had no idea what it was but some I could guess. That thing with the letters and the sliding thing in the middle I have no idea what it is, and I can assume that the thing with the lights on the side was a makeup mirror...

Ha ha not know makes me happy and young 😎🤘

Where I grew up it wasn't uncommon to have 3 corners of an intersection with a gas station. They frequently had "Gas Wars" trying to draw in customers. The lowest price I remember was 11.9¢ per gallon.  Normal price at the time was closer to 20¢ a gallon.

That's two gallons for a quarter with a penny change. I could make two gallons last almost a week (except on Friday and Saturday nights).

There was a mom-and-pop drive up place that sold hamburgers (really good hamburgers), 5 for $1. When McDonald's first came to town, I bought many a Big Mac and milkshake combo for 50¢.  Sometimes I didn't even have to pay anything, if my brother was working.  ^-^

(A Dairy Queen milkshake is now 6-bucks, but I'll need to switch to the Random Rant thread to talk about that.)

Wow, you two really are old.        25¢       You're not even talking about cost per gallon, are you?  You're talking about a fill-up?

Gas was about 25¢ a gallon when I was a kid.  You could not fill up the car for that, but you could get home.

Assuming "when I was a kid" to be 1988, the average gas price at that time was $0.90. It didn't break the $2.00 barrier until I was in graduate school.

I don't really remember gas prices. But I had heard the story retold many times about my daddy getting really mad one day when he pulled into a gas station and thought he was paying $0.53 per gallon, then he realized it was for a 1/2 gallon.  The gas pump didn't have the capabilities to charge in dollars.  Only cents.   He didn't even finish filling up when he realized that.  He got back in the car, huffing and puffing about that gas station owner being a crook.
We pulled into another gas station that was charging $1.05 a gallon.  He was okay with that.
After filling up, when he got in the car, my sister explained to him that he just saved $0.01 per gallon.
"A penny saved is a penny earned girls."  Heard this many times in my life from daddy.

Before Rolodex became the norm. My grandmother had one, and every page was full of names and numbers.

Just like Daddy's.   I threw it out when I cleaned his house a couple of years ago.   It was so old.  And the amount of white-out used in it to change numbers and addresses.
