In the case of "naked" skydiving. you "MUST" absolutely have a chase car following your movement. That requires a radio (two way) and especially ground chatter from the chase team as to/what is in the drop zone. Wind direction and approval to jump come from the aircraft jumpmaster, who is the final authority on a go/no go jump.

All depends on the DZ. The one I jumped at would allow buff dives on days when there wasn't anyone there but adults, and if everyone was cool with it. Other (bigger) DZs wouldn't allow it at all, but we were
waaayyyyy out in the sticks. We didn't need no stinkin' radios or chase cars, we dropped right into the peas.
Word of warning: leave your tennis shoes on.... especially true in the desert! Getting pea gravel jammed in your ass crack is a true joy to treasure.
Oh, and pray the wind doesn't come up as you're climbing to altitude.
