Pot noodles are regarded by some as cheap and nasty but I happen to love them. My favourite is beef and tomato and bombay bad boy. They used to taste a lot better before they removed all the additives lol. It's just a plastic pot with noodles and dried veg/soya in. You get a little sachet of sauce with it. Yum.

Depends on the ones you get. Maruchan ramen noodles are the epitome of garbage. But if you go to an Asian food shop, and get the ones they sell, some of them are actually quite good.  I had spent a year in korea and I developed a taste for them.  I just dont eat them too often because they aren't the healthiest of foods.

A beef and tomato pot noodle washed down with a baron Amarillo rioja from aldi. classy.

We have similar wine tastes,  though I'm  a Chicken and Mushroom pot noodle guy myself  ;D

To me ramen is as healthy as you want to make it.  Ease up on the meat and noodles and add the vegetables you like.  I’d add cilantro and pick some Thai basil off my deck.  I just don’t get adding egg, especially hard boiled egg.  That seems to be in every pic I see of ramen, just doesn’t work for me.  Hard boiled eggs are served deviled or added to potato salad, and that’s about it.  I guess I could eat an egg salad sandwich too, but only if it’s got roughly what you would add to deviled eggs in it, mayo, mustard, some pickle, maybe green onion and paprika.









Oh, and I got no clue what pot noodle is?  It’s gotta be a British thing.

That looks insanely delicious to me. If you're really into avoiding carbs, Udon noodles work almost as well.

I get it that not including eggs is your personal choice, and that's cool. But it's worth noting that many forms of Asian cuisine -- including Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, and even some central Asian dishes (Indian, Bengali, Pakistani, etc.) -- include eggs in their cooking. And 4 billion Asians can't be wrong!

Meanwhile, I know what I'm having for dinner tonight, and I have some fresh escarole in the fridge that would work perfectly.

Actually my favorite Korean dish in winter is diaji gogi soondubu.  It comes to your table still boiling, and you crack a raw egg into it letting the soup cook your egg ‘to order’.  I like scoping out the yolk while barely warm and still runny for my first bite.  I then mix the egg white in to cook more.  It comes with a hot bowl of rice which you add to the soup while eating.  It’s spicy goodness, accompanied with the usual kimchi and other pickled vegetables.

Maybe it’s just the hard boiled egg I object to in ramen?

I am supposed to be on a diet, but my son is leaving for college in 14 days, and we had to have some father and son time.

That gets you a huge virtual woo.

There's a pub near where I live that serves three types of po boy sandwiches: Catfish, Clam, and Shrimp. They're served on crusty bread as in your picture, and they make their own remoulade sauce, which is to die for (the "secret ingredient" is pickle juice).

They're all great, but I prefer the catfish and clam po boys. The shrimp one is delicious, but the shrimps keeping falling out and popping out as you're trying to eat it. The clams fall out as well, but not as frequently as the shrimps.
