See?  Blanching is a shit ton faster than soaking in several changes of water.

Well, I could try that, but don’t tell Chef Patrice.

IDK chef Patrice, so little risk of that happening.

BOT: I've been feeling under the weahter, but this discussion reminded me that we had a rutabega.  So, I cut one up for our Chicken Stew.  Whole chicken-flavored Chicken.  (That's the ones that are chicken sized, instead of KFC monster breast mutant chicken with no flavor.)

CJ made spaghetti. There are so many mouths to feed in this house, but wifey still complained I used store bought spaghetti and not made from scratch.

Bitch, have you not seen how many people are in this house? At least the sauce was made from homegrown tomatoes and ingredients. It's not like I'M a professional chef like you and simply must make everything fresh.

I do love hearing the babies making slurping sounds.  ;D

Blackstrap cornbread.  For a treat tonight, we're having a party (No kids, though.)

Munching leftover GORP (Good ole rasins, and peanuts) from the party, but prepping salmon steaks for dinner.

CJ got a free turkey. So I made thanksgiving dinner weeks early. The kids don't care, they literally licked their plates.

CJ spent all day making turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, rolls and gravy and it didn't even last long enough to become leftovers.

Banana and coffee.   And a tiny little snicker bar that I stole from someones trick or treat bag.

I give her credit, if it was me at that age that sh*t would be long gone by now.  She has barely touched it

A sandwich of Polish dark headcheese made with tongue and aspic, a little pepperoni for some spice, Swiss cheese, arugula, Dijon mustard and mayonnaise on 15 grain bread, an apple, and I also had 4 of those little Halloween Snickers.

Butternut squash soup.  It's a lot of work, but so worth it.

I made some Thursday night.  So good. Do you roast or boil your squash?

Roasted.

Same here.  Never understood the boilers.  Lose so much of that smoky nutty flavor.

It also means firing up the oven, which warms up the house.

A salad that was sort of a tryst between tabouli and a Greek salad that resulted in a red headed step child.  The red being radishes.

Such dinners always have me craving a pizza.  No pizza tonight, but I recall eating an entire medium pizza once after eating a dinner far more substantial than the salad I just had.

At least there’s wine.

I did a 6.5 lb. standing rib roast, and it turned out perfect.  So pink and juicy in the middle, nice bark, and some medium done ends for those who do not worship at the alter of medium rare.  With horseradish, riced mashers, green beans, and popovers.  I’m not a big eater, but I completely over did this one.  Whew.

Blantons Gold.   A gift from one of Dans friend.  Yummy.  Unbelievable difference from regular Blantons

CJ puts steak sauce on everything. Even wifey's mac and cheese.  ;D

I don't know why, I just like it. I get dirty looks every time I do it.

"I worked hard making that, and you dump steak sauce on it?"

Yes.  ;D

But the thing is, I don't really like A1, I like a brand they sell at the dollar tree. It tastes way better and is a little thicker. Some people like hot sauce, CJ likes steak sauce.  :emot_shrug:

Yes, CJ shops at the dollar store. Sometimes they get expensive cereals. Like recently they got flooded with Christmas themed cereal. You try feeding this house and see how long it takes you to resort to coupon clipping and dollar store deals.
