Fun fact.   Corn has an even number or rows of kernel around the circumference of the cob.   It might be 12, might be 14, 16, 18, etc.   Never an odd number.   The number of rows usually has to do with how much rain water fell between the time of planting and around mid July.  The condition of the soil also plays a factor.
I learned that at the Buffalo Trace distillery tour when I went in late July.

Leftover wifey's mac and cheese I hid from from the kids.

But then a 5 and 7 year old ran over to me and both asked "where'd you get that??"

No I did not share.  :D

You beat me Jed.  My eyeballs are having orgasms.

I had potstickers tonight.  But here is the amazing thing.  This was my seventh year to cook a dish for our annual community pot luck.  I have never had a dish that was popular, much less finished, at one of these things.  Invariably I end up taking home 10 pounds of potato salad that we can’t do anything with.  So this year I made chicken and vegetable dumplings.  Steamed, then fried in sesame oil.  A big pan, with about 100 of them.  Every last one got consumed.  I’m still in shock.  My oldest son was predicting we’d be eating leftover dumplings for a week.  Nope.  I didn’t have one to take home.  All gone.

We did some medium rare tenderloins tonight, with loaded baked potatoes, green beans in butter, and biscuits.  Such a great meal.  Good company, good conversation.  Wish every meal could be as enjoyable as this was.

One of my most favorite things.

For me, this morning, a banana.   About to sip my caramel salted (0cal) flavored latte.

I used to eat them.  A lot!   Swansons, Lean Cuisine.   The Lean Cuisine bowls were actually half way decent.   I haven't had one in 6 years now.

Dan made himself a hamburger.   I split a grilled Kielbasa with the little one.   Mustard and cheese on a bun on mine.   Baked beans I made last night.  Yum.

About the only "TV Dinner" type entrees I can stand are the Marie Callender's pot pies.  MR good!  The rest of them are pretty much crap.

I stopped buying those a few years ago after getting one that the ‘chicken’ was almost entirely composed (and I’m not exaggerating) of pieces of gristle, that cartilage between the breasts and around the joints.  Perhaps that was an anomaly, but still.  I favored them before, because I insist the crust be in the pan too and not just on top.  I love that doughy bottom crust.

My Peruvian tried my pot pie at a restaurant recently (no bottom crust  :().  I had to promise to make one for her, said I’d do it from scratch.

Ikay, well I like the gristle.  I gnaw the marrow caps off the ends of the larger bones, (Femur, and drumettes) too.  I dropped a chicken bone one, a scarab came by, and went "Damn, man!"  Then kept walking...

I've got a bunch of corn chips, and a tub of sour cream by the keyboard.  I could get up, and make a plate of nachos if I wanted, but that smacks of effort.

Summer sausage & Maker's Mark cheddar cheese on crackers, a gift from one of Dan's friends this past weekend.   I wasn't hungry, but had to munch on something, I hadn't eaten since noon.

A tasty snack.

Jay Leno used to joke there was only one fruit cake in America, that had been regifted a million times.  The best fruit cake in America is made at the Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana, Texas.

I can’t get enough sweet corn this time of year.  I’ve been buying it at a farmer’s market from some Amish.  Amish girls often aren’t very cute, but the one that sold me the corn yesterday sure was.  I’d knock that bonnet off her head any day.

A peach nearly the size of the cantaloupe I also bought from an elderly Amish woman at the Wednesday farmer’s market.  I basically had to lean over a plate while peach juices spurted all over including up my nose.  By the time this ‘James’ finally ate his ‘Giant Peach’ I went through at least a dozen paper towels.

I also got my weekly sweet corn.  I looked for my cute Amish girl, but she wasn’t there yesterday.   :(
Maybe next week.

I'd rate them 2nd after Catholic school* girls, but any ranking would be subjective.

(A Catholic College, for legal reasons.)
