Boy Suspended From School For Firing Imaginary Bow And Arrow In Pennsylvania

So let's try and get this straight...

In America you can buy automatic weapons in Black Friday sales - but firing an imaginary bow and arrow can get you thrown out of school.

That's exactly what's happened to a 10-year-old student from Pennsylvania.

he school says the boy violated their zero-tolerance policy on weapons.

Defence attorney Jonna Spilbor told Fox News: "Here’s how ridiculous it is.

"If we’re going to punish this poor kid for pretending to shoot a bow and arrow, let’s ticket his parents for parking their unicorn in a fire zone."

Civil rights group, the Rutherford Institute has come to the boy's defence.

President, John W. Whitehead, said: "We all want to keep the schools safe, but I’d far prefer to see something credible done about actual threats, rather than this ongoing, senseless targeting of imaginary horseplay."

This is so ridiculous it's laughable.

When we were kids we'd play 'Cowboys and Indians', not knowing about civil rights or anything else that today's society takes to heart - it was them v us and was fun (most of the time).

As Janus says, political correctness has gone plum loco. It's about time we turned the clock back a bit and let kids have their childhood the way they're supposed to!

In a lot of ways political correctness is killing our society. These types of stories are just the ones that get published. Think of all the ones that don't. Ridiculous.

That's very true.

But the opposite is also true. The media tends to pick exaggerated examples and put them out there, as if they're 100% representative of a general trend. And they're not.

Most of the time, silly things like this -- and most other stories of Political Correctness run amok (e.g. the story about the 6-year-old boy who was suspended for sexual harassment for kissing a female classmate on the hand) -- result from people in authority who have basically good intentions, but fail miserably when it comes to common sense.

And keep in mind that parents also play a very large role here. In the case of the 6-year-old Lothario, the girl's parents aggressively complained to the school, and the suspension flowed from that.

It breaks my heart when I see children being punished over something they don't even understand. Something adults made a bigger deal of than necessary. It is important to teach children what is appropriate and what isn't, but not like this. This helps nothing, it only hinders them.
