Between Sept. 10 and Sept. 14, Trump and his campaign ran a combined total of 48 Facebook and Instagram ads touting his nominations as part of his reelection pitch to voters. Half of those ads contained a graphic with a spelling error that read “President Trump was nominated for the Noble Peace Prize.”  Stable genius.

It's worth noting that Trump's Nobel Peace Prize nomination is a very minor thing.

According to the Nobel committee:

For a nomination alone, the barrier to entry is low: All nominations from heads of state or politicians serving at a national level are accepted.

University professors, directors of foreign policy institutes, past recipients of a Nobel Prize and members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee are also among those deemed qualified to submit a nomination for the prize. The nominations require no invitation and as long they are entered before 1 February of the qualifying year, they will be accepted.

For the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize -- the winner of which has not yet been announced -- there were 318 candidates. The Norwegian Nobel Committee doesn't publicly comment on its nominees, which are kept secret for 50 years.

Trump was nominated by a Norwegian MP named Christian Tybring-Gjedde, who had previously nominated Trump in 2018. Tybring-Gjedde is a member of a far-right party and shares a lot in common with Trump. He's staunchly anti-immigration, and even more staunchly opposed to Muslims immigrating to Norway; supports Putin; rejects scientific demonstrations of climate change; and he's staunchly (and outspokenly) nationalist and isolationist.

There is no "rule".  I know it is a meme but the Senate does as it wishes.  With Harry Reid's decision to go the nuclear route on simple majority votes as Schumer stated, "...nothing is off the table."
