Yeah, I had a few jobs with shitty uniforms, too. Mostly demeaning jobs where we too the public's money... in exchange for goods. At least we gave them something for their time and money.

Because they are NOT confident in their belief.

There are three kinds of people in the world. Those who can count, and those who can't.

The Catholic Church in Ireland only charges for services provided (you know, unimportant stuff like marriage). Donations are strongly encouraged at mass and social pressure is put on people to give to the Church but in the end it is still all voluntary. I don't know how it works for other religions in other countries but that's the way it is here. What you're ignoring here is that mass does provide an invaluable service to many, just not you. If you're ignorant of what you're making fun of perhaps you should educate yourself a little more about them. People in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones.

I'm not so much making fun of the practice or beliefs (though this would be a reasonable place to do so), as I am making fun of the uniform.

I understand that for some, believing in an invisible man who sent himself to sacrifice himself to himself to save humanity from himself is comforting (why is beyond me). Most religions don't charge for services of this nature (Catholics charge for candles now, or so I'm told), and that is fine. So is goading those who take comfort in their stories and lectures to pay them. I'm okay with others deciding to believe in those stories, as long as they don't try to shit on those who don't like such nonsense.

But beliefs are a choice. I don't think it is fair or right to ridicule someone for something they can't change, like their skin color, or sexuality, or physical handicap, or country of origin. Ridiculing someone's ridiculous ideas is mean if one does so in an area they should be comfortable being themselves (like public streets, or their church, or work), but it is okay in a place they are expected not to go if they are bound to a silly code of ethics that has them deny themselves pornography. How much of the world should we reserve for these precious little sensitive believers? For centuries, the shoe was on the other foot, and Christians shoved it up the asses of those who didn't believe in their little fairytales, so why should I bend over backwards to make an argument room on a porn site free from LOGIC?

Don't sweat the petty stuff, pet the sweaty stuff.

Because logical disbelief is finally overpowering centuries of peer pressure, and it vexes them.

Well, actually, the Trinity is the result of too many pagans coming into the Church.

Any right thinking monotheist would immediately recognize the Trinity for what it actually is. The Trinity posed an impossible problem for the Church. They were supposed to only believe in One God. But they were trying (too hard it seems) to reconcile what appeared to be more than one God.

It was the nuance that did them in. Barbarians, unlettered, and ignorant.

The trinity is not that difficult of a concept. The Christian trinity separates itself from pagan's polytheism in the the trinity is of one mind. Christ, aka Emanuel, among his purposes was to do God's will. And in doing so, fullfilled numerous Hebrew prophecies concerning the messiah. Christ and the Holy Spirit are manifesting of the God Head and work towards the same purposes. Christianity is unique in this understanding. In polytheism, the gods are not of one mind, do know what the other is doing, and even war among themselves.

The Trinity was also a convient way of bringing polytheistic pagans into the food. It was much mor palatable for them to simply reduce the number of Gods.

What is also indisputable is that while dogma may have simply divided the One God into facets, the people actually have reduced the theology into a distillation of Jesus as a God, separate from the One God. Additionally, the use of saints was familiar enough to polytheists to consider hem as Godlungs, Demi-Gods if you will, who may intercede on the behalf of the petitioner.

However, we need not go into this argument, for we are talking two separate things here, as you previously noted.
