No Plan B - House Passed Bill In April 2012 Is The Bill

The House of Representatives has cancelled the vote on the Speakers latest "plan b" bill, due to lack of support within the Republican Party tonight. This is the best result, as compared to passage of a bill that was without principle, and threatened inaction by the Senate and Veto by the President.

There is a good bill that extends the tax cuts for every single American, and proposes cuts in a thoughtful manner, and this is now in front of the Senate. The Senate can discuss and create it's own version, and vote on it, and if they get passage, and the bill is changed, then send it back to the House for Conference, the way it is supposed to be.

Thank goodness for the citizens who swamped the Capitol switchboard once again, to stop the tax increase proposal from seeing a vote. Let the Congress work it's will. Up to the Senate and the President now to pass a Senate bill, and send it to conference.

Obamas arrive in Hawaii
for Christmas vacation

President Barack Obama and his family have arrived in Honolulu to spend Christmas in Hawaii, where the president was born and raised.

Air Force One touched down in Honolulu minutes after midnight and the motorcade was underway to the first family's Kailua vacation home at about 12:26 a.m.

The president and the first family do not have any public scheduled events while they are in the islands, but Oahu motorists should expect unannounced delays as the presidential motorcade travels around the island.

Obama stay here may be cut shorter than usual since he leaves Washington without having a deal to avert the so-called fiscal cliff on Jan. 1.

Speaking to the press before he left, Obama encouraged Congress to "to work towards a package that prevents a tax hike on middle-class Americans."

"Once this legislation is agreed to, I expect Democrats and Republicans to get back to Washington and have it pass both chambers. And I will immediately sign that legislation into law, before Jan. 1st of next year. It's that simple," he said.

He ended his remarks by saying, "I want to wish every American a merry Christmas. And because we didn't get this done, I will see you next week."
