Battlefield is a Rambo style FPS.
Right, more specifically, a run-and-gun hero with a machinegun, storming up the hill in full armor with infinite ammo FPS. (Or "Rambo Style.") The problem is, there was no Run&Gun in WWI. That's what the Trenches were for, to lock down the Battlefield to the point that the British had to develop Tanks.
Machineguns are Crew Served Weapons. Nobody is expected to, much less capable of carrying, much less operating it all by themselves, that's what the Crew was for. The same with Tanks. Just hop in The A7V and drive around, shooting up everyone all by yourself, until it runs out of hit points.
The problem is, the A7V had a minimum crew of 18, and they only ever fielded 1. There was only 1 that ever saw action, and even if we're talking about an Alternate History, where Germany could Mass Produce them, it still had a crew of 18. Because nobody can drive one, and operate the guns, which are nowhere near the Officers up on the Bridge. Oh yeah, and it had a Bridge. Over the engines, between the 2 crew compartments, where all the Guns are.
I have to wonder how many strings they had to rig up to all the triggers of 6 machineguns, and and a 57mm gun, not to mention who all is Reloading all of them. The top speed was a crawl, and the one that was fielded eventually fell over, trying to drive across the cratered landscape of the war.
I don't have a problem with "Rambo" style action, but I can't believe the set it in the war that taught the world that Camping ruins the game. John Rambo wasn't even born yet. David Morrell wasn't even born until 1943, and he didn't write about him mowing down endless waves of goons with a Machinegun fired from the hip.
