They were also my High School's Football Team's Fighting Songs. Every Pep Rally we blasted these songs at MAXIMUM volume it was like a Queen Concert was in full swing.

I can't cite the page number (I got the book from the library), but Freddy Mercury is quoted as saying this it in "Is This The Real Life" by Mark Blake.And, to Gia's point about clueless "beer swilling, homophobes" above, the Village People song "YMCA" is played at some point at virtually every sporting event in the U.S., from the pros down to little league. And it's a song about a notorious gay pick-up place. Take that, straight people!
