I too like Queen! Agreed, Gia, Bohemian Rhapsody is one of their many and most popular songs. So is this one:

They were also my High School's Football Team's Fighting Songs. Every Pep Rally we blasted these songs at MAXIMUM volume it was like a Queen Concert was in full swing.

I absolutely love Queen! Freddie was a genius. Such a beautiful soul. Anyone read a good biography on him? I tried to find a decent one for years and heard a lot of them are rubbish.

And "We Are The Champions" still is today for many sports organizations... What I personally enjoy about that is that dear Freddy wrote the lyrics as an anthem for the queer nation... most beer swilling, homophobes don't know that simple fact to this day!

I can't cite the page number (I got the book from the library), but Freddy Mercury is quoted as saying this it in "Is This The Real Life" by Mark Blake.

And, to Gia's point about clueless "beer swilling, homophobes" above, the Village People song "YMCA" is played at some point at virtually every sporting event in the U.S., from the pros down to little league. And it's a song about a notorious gay pick-up place. Take that, straight people!

Wow! This thread is already a gold mine for me. I was completely ignorant about both of these facts. I love you guys.  :emot_kiss:

But the only complication which remains is if I ever quote these facts, most of my friends would ask for cross-checking references, which I don't have for both of these. I just have search a little harder I guess.

Always knew about the YMCA song content but not about Queen. Everything I ever read was comments from the band about writing a song for sports and having a sort of end of concert anthem for the band
