My ex lived with some Mormons in Idaho. Pretty freaky stuff. I just don’t care for the weird religion. I think you have to be pretty strange to buy into all of that stuff. I have a friend who left the Mormon church and got condemned to Mormon hell and shunned by everyone he had spent a lifetime with. But he is a pretty good lawyer and a fab guitarist. He’s written about his experiences, and they are rather gut wrenching.
I honestly believe they are a cult. No decent christian, no matter how far out there would believe any of the Mormon's teachings is even remotely good. Gold plates buried in America, that no one can see, but one man. God set fire to a huge bush, sent people to part an entire sea, and vaporized two cities, and what mormons believe is even plausible? doubt it. I rag on them because the wont leave things well enough alone here. If I was forced to believe in Mormonism and Little green men, UFO's the occult and other supernatural/paranatural things, I will gladly don a tin foil hat, because at least there is some shreds of minute evidence, and not based entirely on hearsay. I also do not think they fully understand what Harems and Polygamy really means. In many Arabic cultures, it was a practice, if you were a male, and had a brother who was married, and he dies, you took on his wife and children as your own. It exploded from there.
I've meet Quakers, Mennonites, and some Amish, and their take on the religion is actually pretty nice, compared to mormonism. Like I said, there is good and bad in every culture, religion and beliefs, but the Mormons I encountered lean too far into the category I lovingly call the "Quiet Bat shit Insane" Kind of like that family in Rob Zombie's House of a thousand corpses, with a lot less or more murder.
I dont mean to rail on them hard, but they started hard, and left a bad impression.
