My grandparents were very old-school, having been born in 1904 at 1905. So we put up the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. And it came down on Epiphany, which is the 12th day of the Christmas feast. You see, way back in time (and in the eastern church today) there were 40 days of fasting before Christmas, followed by 12 days of Christmas feasting. Hence the song, “the 12 days of Christmas.” So the tree came down on January 7.
As JRGB mentioned, on the Julian calendar, Christmas falls on January 7th. So Orthodox Epiphany is January 19th. We have everything down by then.
