Beautiful day yesterday and nice most of the day.  Some big storms supposed to be coming through in the evening.  Time to put down some fertilizer so it can be watered in.  It is looking a little dingy.  My grass missed me. Two months of no food, it shows.

I gave up and painted my lawn green. Grass paint is $85 a gallon, but that's cheap in comparison to what my water bill is if I try to keep it green naturally. Took about 2 hours and nobody driving by (or even walking by) can tell it's painted.

My neighbors on either side did the same thing, putting pressure on me to not have the brown lawn in between them. Well, not on me exactly, but my wife felt pressured and you know what they say... happy wife, happy life. 😉

The brown in the foreground is what the whole lawn looked like before I painted. Now it's a uniform green color, and no water was necessary. Well, except to dilute the paint.

Grass goes dormant in the hot summer heat, it's okay. It's not dead.   I avoid it by allowing the grass to grow long.  Like 4" or more.  This helps protect the roots from the sun, they stay moist(er) and does not go dormant. My plan is possible in Michigan, not sure if this can be done in southern states.
I do like the paint idea if it ever does goes brown.  Interesting

Gorgeous I hear.  Pool day.   Dan on his kindle, me on my iPad, the little one having friend over splashing and enjoying the water.

It was 56°f  this morning when I stepped outside to go for a jog. Last week everything was melting in 100°f and this week I had to go back inside for a heavier top.

Prediction for the weekend... 90s and up.

55 when I went for a walk this morning.
61 now.   crazy
I'm trying to go the day in shorts, but I just went to get the mail and, well, I'm still cold 10 minutes later.

Minneapolis high yesterday hot 98 degrees. Broke the record that's stood since 1925. Labor Day is considered the last day of summer, so you can say it went out like a blast... blast furnace that is.

Low 90s forecast for today but down in the 70s tomorrow. That will feel arctic after several 90 degree days.

Long range forecast for the rest of September looks great. 70s during the day and 50s at night. Hope that holds true.

Dogs dont even want to be out in the heat. They go out, lay down for five minutes, and want back in. I was rather enjoying this last bit of heat.

Summer isn’t over in Texas.

Our state fair also ended yesterday. This years fair saw some of the hottest weather in years. Several 90 degree days. I think attendance was down a bit.

To help out visitors on hot days they have misters people can stand in and get some relief.

Summer isn’t over in Texas.

OMG, no thank you!

High of 91 in Detroit today. 84 now.  Feels like 90 due to humidity.

About 4:00, the shade from the neighboring woods will cover our yard and I will do some outside work.
Got my basement exercise in already.
Not sure what the plans are today.
I do need a car wash, but will also have to wait for the shade.
Nothing playing at the movies, so no finding relief in the A/C there.
Looks like a lazy hot day for us.

I manned the milk house for Rudy Boschwitz at the state fair for a number of years. Fond memories of the Minnesota state fair. The Texas state fair will be starting soon, but temperatures will be in the 100s. Corndogs, Big Tex, and a little football game called Texas - OU.
