Used to hear stories of court being cancelled due to it being too hot inside.

There was a great line in the movie A Time to Kill (1996), which is really a dramatic remake of To Kill a Mockingbird. Southern town, sweltering weather, all the lawyers are wearing seersucker suits. Oliver Platt stands up and says, “Your Honor, if I may, in light of the inclement weather… May we be permitted to remove our jackets?” I always wanted to say that, but since 99% of the courtrooms in Texas are now air conditioned, I have never had the opportunity.

An article in our local paper mentioned that climatologists predict there will be a "corridor of extreme heat" developing in the next 20 years that will stretch from north Texas, through Illinois and into parts of Wisconsin. They predict summer temperatures to reach 125 degrees F.  Effects to agriculture and humans may be devasting they predict.

I also read that evaporation from oceans will cause “corridors of extreme moisture” that may cause cataclysmic flooding in California, when the corridors hit the Sierra Nevada and rise upward, releasing a deluge of 8 inches of rain per day, perhaps for weeks on end. Dam failures, and submerging the Central Valley, are both possible side effects.

I am hoping that climatologists, like our weather reporters, are mostly wrong in their predictions, though I expect there will be some calamity occurring.

Waiting on the rain showers that are expected throughout the day.

Cloudy but peasant now.  Reading my kindle, and handling Purpleshoes complaints.

The rain should be there by now, as we had storms throughout the late night/early morning. Now is just drizzling.

We actually had some water fall from the sky yesterday. I hear that you people call it “rain.” We wouldn’t know, we never have it. Now the temperatures are down in the 90’s, and the forecast high for Wednesday is only 86°. In Texas, we call this FAKE FALL. Soon to be followed by SECOND SUMMER, that lasts until late October.

Of course, we expect it to be live-streamed.

Or at the very least a compilation video of the best parts posted.  ;)

From the photos in the newspaper of all the flooded streets, you might be wading naked in the rain.  ;D ;D

I got about 1.5”.  Some folks on the south and east sides of Austin got 4”.

Friday saw high temps a little above 90 degrees F. The weekend has started with cool temperatures. Woke up to 60 degrees, a chilly feeling after a couple days of hot humid weather. Forecast for the first full week of September is highs in 70s to low 80s. Cool nights will make for pleasant sleeping.

Welcome to fall. :D
