Phoenix area and we've been seeing temps between 110-118 for more than the past month.  Complex central air barely keeps up with it sometimes.  Fans help.  Sometimes I can smell that coppery odor that comes with condensation on the coils re-evaporating when it gets hot and dry enough and the temp of the water circulated from the chiller has risen to a certain point.  You know when the thing breaks down entirely because it starts to smell like you have a bunch of pennies up your nose.  I remember a summer two years ago when it was out for two days and I was in the shower every five minutes and out with a towel dripping water everywhere.  I would sit naked with the fan on my and a cold bottle of whiskey out of the freezer that I would press against my back.  It was 118 the day it went down.

Sunny, hot and humid, but waiting for a hurricane. Maybe it will miss me.

I like the idea that a voice can just go somewhere, uninvited, and just kinda hang out like a dirty thought in a nice clean mind. Maybe a thought is like a virus,  it can kill all the healthy thoughts

Few more days of hot and humid up here...then a break with temps falling into 70s.

Still in the upper 70s and very humid this morning. Usually we have breakfast on the back porch when we get home from the gym.  The cats wander around the yard as we watch their antics.

Today air-conditioning stayed on and all four of us stayed inside. You know it's too miserable when the cats don't want outside.

Well trained and been made compliant....by my cat Neville

Family evacuating from Beaumont and Port Arthur today.  385,000 told to evacuate.  Hurricane Laura expected to hit as a Category 4 tomorrow, right about at Sabine Pass.  Texas/Louisiana border.

Was about 75 this morning during my run. Nice and warm, makes me feel like I've accomplished a great workout.

Think it will be our last day in the 90s.  Miss it already  :'(

Today may set a record for hottest day for Aug 26. Hot and humid also tomorrow.

Hope everyone who lives in Texas remains safe from the storm.

Prayers go out for TX and LA facing 20 foot surge, Hurricane(s), as all with any sense evacuate, abandon their homes, expecting devastation in
next few days.

May all survive, and recover...

Woke up this morning to rumbling thunder.  Love the sound of a good thunderstorm.  My dad will be excited that his garden is getting plenty of water this morning.  As a certain someone said in a PM, no I wont have to water any cucumbers.  Gross innuendo

Just saw some arial photos of the Texas coast after the hurricane hit.  It's a good thing so many of the houses there were built on stilts.  If you live in an area hit by this hurricane I hope you are safe and well.

Laura went ashore at Cameron Louisiana this morning as a category 4 hurricane, and a 9 foot storm surge.  Four dead.  Widespread flooding.  Chemical plant fire near Lake Charles.

My family members are all okay, but much cleanup remains to be done.

We don’t live down there, but we have grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who do.  Everyone is safe.

My brother lives in Houston, and they said it was pretty much a non event.  I haven’t seen much footage, but I have heard the destruction was extensive.

One humorous incident is that the storm took down the Confederate monument in Lake Charles Louisiana. There had been a protest recently about the statue, and Parrish officers voted to leave it standing. So along came hurricane Laura, and toppled it. Coincidence?
