Temperature is dropping like a rock tonight........
Just finished up in the barn (turned on the heat), took a quick look at the temperature and it's down to 28 degrees outside.

Love,
Liz

Two snow storms heading our way.  One tonight and the other tomorrow afternoon. Then frigid temps.  If this keeps up then it looks like we might just have a white Christmas.

Coldest morning of season so far, about 20 F now, was 18F earlier.  Maybe snow tomorrow night.

Cold right now.....way down in the low 20's.
Beautiful sky though, clear and bright blue.

Single digits this AM, 4 above F.  Last month on this day it was 68.  September lasted thru November temp wise this year.  We had no "in between" to acclimate.  For those of us used to the north county its a bigger shock that usual.  No snow either, which means a lot of frozen water pipes leading from the main to houses.  The snow insulates and without it frost goes much deeper.  I've seen several areas where the curb is blocked off and large puddles freezing over due to water seeping up from a broken pipe.  Good news for plumbers. ;D

MintJulie - break out your long underwear because I will be sending our frigid temperatures and snow your way.  No need to thank me.  I love to share.  ;D

But then, maybe we can head over to NaughtyNicole's and lounge about in front of her fireplace.

I've been wearing my Cuddl Duds (long underwear) for the last two days.  I might have to wear two pair tomorrow.    A real fireplace?   I'm in.      I hate the fake fireplace here.....gas fueled, enclosed behind glass.  ick

The cold air is starting to work it's way in. Not too bad right now, about 25 F but will be 15 by morning and maybe -10 with wind. A lot colder on Friday. Looks like I'll be spending the next few nights by the roaring fire. You're more than welcome to join me!

Temp in Dallas will be bipolar as usual.  3PM Saturday it'll be 70F, 12 hours later it'll be 20F.

Blissfully no snow/sleet/ice in the extended forecast.

I went out for my usual morning run this morning around 6:15 and the temp. was 18. What's worse, it's very windy and gusty, making it feel even colder.

Brrrrrr!

I went out for my usual morning run this morning....

5 here.  Windchill -20, I think they said for this morning.

I won't run below 20.    I love to run, but I would rather stay inside than go out in this.
Elliptical, calisthenics, bands and light weights for me these days.   I need a good treadmill.

I love to run in the cold, the feel of the cold air is so invigorating.  BUT I'd draw the line at -16.  If it was Zero and bright sun and no wind, maybe.  But the wind is a killer.

We are expecting Temps near 0 F tomorrow morning with wind gusts to as high as 45MPH.  So I can't imagine what that will feel like. Needless to say I won't be running,LOL!

Cold all day.....high of 19 degrees.
Winds are really bad also. Tonight isn't suppose to be much better.
Windy enough to keep the horses inside all day and it's suppose to rain over the weekend.
In other words it's gonna be a crappy weekend.

Love,
Liz

Shockingly warm here today.  Our high was 80F.  It is supposed to drop to 56F tonight with rain.

THis is the time of year you might need to turn on the AC during the day and the heater at night.

12:05 am and the imminent flood watch has been lifted, so we can go to bed.

The towns further down the mountain have been flooding all day, we've had a number of rock and mud slides around us, the road up to our place is open but "emergency passage only is strongly advised". Power was on and off so much that Dad finally just turned the generator on manual and unplugged the grid. Cable has never even twitched :-)

So, tell me Jules, do you need special equipment up there, living in Hoth?

In my trunk I have old ski pants from my skiing days, big warm boots and a hoody and winter coat and ridiculously large gloves.    My emergency kit if I break down.

For everyday, I wear long underwear (cuddl duds) and my furlined waterproof boots I wear into the office and change into whatever shoes I'm wearing at work.

This is ridiculous and it's not even winter yet.   I can't handle it.   I might not survive much longer*.   If not, I want you all to know, I loved you all.

* Waiting for a Texan or Lois to offer me a place to stay for the winter.
