Yeah, I remember flying into Dallas one afternoon (first and last trip to the great state of Texas) and stepping out of the air conditioned terminal into what felt like an instant sauna bath. I thought the summer I spent in downtown DC was pretty hot and humid, but then I later spent a week on Maryland's outer peninsula when every day was temps over 100 degrees and humidity 90% plus. Hard to believe some people live in these climates most of the year.

Woke to gales, winds estimated 80-100mph and lashing rain. It's an 'orrible day! Almost a normal bank holiday Monday here in the UK... Fingers crossed no structural damage... haven't made it out of the door yet...

Thanks for that h45... spent some time with a couple of neighbours help stacking the bricks from two seven foot high walls... Bank Holiday and couldn't get hold of Insurance agent so that has to wait until tomorrow  >:(... Hope everyone else had a better day and better weather too...

Since Friday it's been raining daily here.  Strange though as the systems are moving in from the South and not from California as they usually do this this time of year.  But I am glad for the rain.  You can literally watch the cactus swell as they store water for the dry times ahead.

True story hersh, autos converged at the underpasses and in some cases blocked thru traffic on Interstate 35. 3 or 4 cars wide. One 18 wheeler, snugged up to a hail dodger and pushed it thru the traffic then drove on. Way to go Good Buddy.

North Texas sure has gotten its share of hail storms this year. As hersh mentioned, hail wreaks havoc with cars, homes and fields.

Temps are nice here in Dallas, but with the rain coming in on and off all next week I need to get out TOMORROW and cut back the Giant Mutant Swamp Grass that's overtaken my lawn, or it'll be 2 to 3 foot high by next weekend.  It loves the rain.

Just how did you get Giant Mutant Swamp Grass on your lawn??

It's not a Louisiana-style wetlands, but it's certainly a swamp.  They politely call it The Great Trinity Forest 'cos The Big Dallas Swamp isn't nearly as sexy.  :roll:

Beautiful day up here today. Blue skies and bright sun.  Although only about 65 deg, I actually laid out in the sun in short shorts and bikini top for about an hour today.  The warm sun felt great but it did get a little cool after a while. Soon!! :)
