How do your horses like all the snow?  Must mean huge hay feed bills since they cannot pasture.

Depending on the wind...they either hate it or love it.
It can be cold and sunny and they are all for going out in it.
If it's cold and windy, they won't budge from there stalls (and I don't blame them at all).
Hay is bought and stored in the summer and used in the winter.
Prices vary from a low of $4.25 a bale to up to $7.00 a bale.
Pure (100%) alfalfa is the most expensive (but best in winter, as it generates the most heat for a horse (read that as energy).
I have on hand right now 400 bales of hay for use. that "should" get me threw winter and into spring, other wise I'm off to the hay dealer and buying at winter prices (way to expensive).

Love,
Liz

Alfalfa generates the most heat? Are you talking about farts?

Got a couple inches of snow yesterday.  Very little on the ground this year.  After the snow, temps dropped, with overnight low of 0...we had no degrees at all. :emot_weird: :emot_weird: :emot_weird:

So, a couple day of cold, with a promise of a warm up.  Warm up as in maybe, just maybe highs in the low 50's.  Whoo Hoo!!!

But then we saw that last year.  Warm thaw, then sudden freeze.  Just doing like everyone else...takin' what nature gives us.

Well trained and been made compliant....by my cat Neville

No complaints. Today is sunny, near 50 and the snow is melting big time. Ah, Spring may be in the air and it sure feels good.  8)

Wow....It really warmed up today...!!!!
Snow is melting, sun is shining, not a single cloud in the sky.
Temp is hanging in the low 50's.
LOL...now my snow problems have turned into mud problems....

Liz

And now my driveway is flooded also.

42 is great for the thaw but sucks for all the water build up on the roads.

My friend in Indiana said that he took a walk and the sounds of the storm drains taking the snow melt away were the happiest thing he had heard in months.  But I'm not going to bother telling you how *great* the weather is out here in the far West Coast of the US of A.  Why? you ask.  It's a cuzz we don't want any more folks coming to visit or move here.  Are we being selfish?  Yeah.  Mostly just trying to conserve water.  They are asking us, if we spit in public, to aim for the driest tree.  So, perhaps, we should all ask you'uns back East to ship your snow balls out west.

Meanwhile, in Anchorage, Alaska, there is no snow, and the temperature is in the low to mid 30's.

The Iditarod had to start some 100 miles north in Fairbanks, where the temperature is hovering around 0 degrees F.

Same here....two days above freezing ....LOL....
Actually it's 52 degrees here, but at night it still dives down into the 30's.
But it's all good......the snow is melting (just not fast enough).
So me and Nicole are sharing the same weather (pretty much).
And "NO" watcher, I'll stay here in New Jersey.

Love,
Liz

And Watcher, I am staying up north too but thanks for the offer. Where were you in early Feb? LOL!!
