I'm glad we're not getting the snow others are. Cold weather is tough enough. OK, I'm staying inside, but the sound of the furnace running all the time sends shivers thru our bank account.
As to my post yesterday, I hope nobody thought I was trying to minimise our temps. Right now it's 23 below, and that's dangerous. My beef is the windchills get overplayed. I've even heard the weather ppl give windchill when the temps are in upper 30s. I've been out many times in sub zero temps due to work, but I know how to dress for it. OK, now I'm sounding like my grandfather walking five miles to school in two feet of snow. No doubt about it, I'm getting old.
One memory I'd like to share...the first time I experienced minus 40. I'd just moved to Bemidji in northern MN. I had to walk 4 block to the radio station at 5:30 AM to sign of. The air was very dry as well as colder than I'd ever seen. The sky was clear, stars bright, yet white flakes were falling all around me. It was the humidity freezing into flakes. It was beautiful.
