You will never see a polar vortex, because the NY Times is up here, and won't care to make up a good name for any South Pole weather event, having succeeded their goal for removing Freon from industrial use, with South Pole mumbo jumbo, back in the Clinton administration, since determined irrelevant to climate change.
Refrigerator manufacturers sold lots of new ones, and people were forced to dump their older cars, which no longer worked for AC.

Change... poof!

The North Pole vortex, a change in the jet stream where it cannot ID the Canada/US border, so brings some Canadian weather to us, comes at an opportune time, as 2014 legislation on climate change works its way through many State legislatures, and languishes in the US House, as it should.

As the Senate gets around to returning from vacation, this too shall pass.

I agree, and I'd take it a step further.

I spent about an hour in the so-called Polar Vortex this morning, and that experience demonstrated this is yet another example of the liberal media suppressing the real story -- Global Warming is a complete myth! -- in favor of a story invented out of whole cloth to support their agenda.

As you point out, the alleged Polar Vortex illegally and criminally crossed that U.S.-Canadian border without any form of documentation. And yet, once in this country, it was neither arrested nor sent back, but accepted here without question. This is clearly a metaphor for the way in which our Socialist-Marxist-Communist-Kenyan-Muslim president plans to foist complete amnesty for all illegal immigrants currently in the U.S. upon the American people.

You heard it here first!

There is no such thing as a weather event, they are media events nowadays.

Where the hell is AlGore and his global warming?  Even in the
antarctic summer, the ice is getting thicker.  We now have to go rescue the idiots studying global warming down there.

I think global warming means that winters will be harsher and summers hotter.  Anyway, we have warmed up some in Chi-beria.  Only -10 now.  But sunny.  Just think of all the ladies walking around with pokies in the South...GC, you can warm me up anytime. 8) 8)

While you're waiting in vain for that apology, why don't you make yourself useful by getting on your knees and opening your mouth

Exactly. The current "weather event" occuring in the U.S. can be described with one word: Winter.

Woos to Barb & Joan.  After "global warming" couldn't be proved "they" changed it to climate change to cover our "polar events".
We may get above 32 on the weekend...a Jan. thaw.  As they say up here if you don't like the weather just wait a couple days.

Half & half.  I did have a tip of my tongue in my cheek.  I fee both sides of the argument are throwing out too much conjecture and not enough proven facts.  I think the results of the various studies are skewed by whatever group is paying for the study.  Scientists need to keep their employers happy too.

Temp here right now is:  7 degrees (F) with wind chill it's -14 degrees (F).
And about the above comments, The earth goes through cyclic patterns of above normal temp and below normal temps about every ten years (thats normal) but the crap that we are dumping into the air now has changed that pattern. If we can ever return to a normal cyclic pattern is very doubtful.
Rising temps and who to blame and what you want to call it is a moot point, the temps are rising and "we" are to blame for it, like it or not it, thats the way it is.
Love,
Liz

Miss B, do you write for the Onion now?

We've been having autumn temps here for two weeks already. Mother nature is completely out of whack. Trees are starting to sprout when they shouldn't. If it's the same weird scenario as last year, winter will hit us hard in February and it will freeze till the end of March (not normal for my country), spring will be skipped and suddenly summer's there. And I like spring!

Balmy start to the morning.  Only 7 below.  Forcast to be in the 30s by the weekend.  What they like to call a January thaw.  Still at least three months or more of winter, tho'.  With the warm weekend ahead, I'm hoping to go take some pictures of Trumpeter Swans.  Have a good day everyone.  A break is in sight.
