Tornados or wildfires?  Tough choice.   8)

Bunkers’ the way to go in both cases.

Hunkering down with you to ride out a tropical storm would almost make it worth moving to Texas.   :emot_kiss:

I suppose I have to concede there are worse places than Texas to call home.

Just watched the news for the first time in about 4 days.

A hurricane coming to NYC?   Yikes.

Julie, I'm getting hit in CT too, although, we have the eye going right over us in a couple of models right now.  Sadly, it seems to be going slightly west, which means heavy wind on the east side of the state and heavy rain on the west side.  Where am I?  Right toward the middle, slightly to the right.  SIGH

To add insult to injury, it's named Henri, as if giving it a suave French name will mitigate the damage.

No, not this guy:

This guy:

The good news is that the current projection has it tracking to the east of NYC.

The bad news is that it's projected to cross Long Island and straight for Connecticut.

I'm an occasional weather hobbyist, usually during the winter storm season.  I've been checking several forecast models every few hours.  It's still a total crap shoot for CT.

If it tracks further west, we get slammed with heavier winds.  If it tracks further east, we get nailed with more flooding rain.

There is also a chance of what is left of the storm circling back and hitting CT again on the way out to the east.  So, if it takes a more western track it will hit CT and then turn east and go right back through CT again, although at a lower intensity.

Haven’t really had anything impact where I leave since Hurricane Isabel in 2003.  We lost power for 5 days, also no water.  I had a friend/coworker living in a cul-de-sac that didn’t get power back for almost 2 months.  To add insult to injury he lost power again for an extended period of time that winter.  All this was with a new baby in the house, they had to move out both times, sometimes with family and sometimes in a hotel.  I’ll never live in a small cul-de-sac, you’re last on the list for repairs.

For all those in the path of Henri (and those that come after), stay safe.

Them Duke boys. . . . .

The pictures of coastal Louisiana are very sad.  I had thought to go there some day soon and eat some seafood, and now it will be years of rebuilding.

We had a great deal of rain today.  West and north may get severe flooding.

We got the rain from Ida in CT, NY, and NJ.  I got several flash-flood warnings.

Raining again. It's actually quite cool outside and the rain is keep the swarm of mosquitoes at bay. Going to be scattered rain showers until the end if the weekend.

The leaves around by me are starting to lighten up as the days get darker. The stores are beginning to stock their shelves with halloween decor and I'm seeing space made for candy...

My summer is always gone too soon, and it's getting closer to that horrid white crap and below 0 temps.

It was borderline cold outside this morning. Almost went back in to put in a hoodie before my run, but I warmed up quick.  I did however put one on when I went out to enjoy my coffee in the early morning air.

Assuming that you’re in 🇺🇸 , (you described their climate exactly)
Well from your experience, I think it’s safe to assume that the weather there is finally getting better and/or back to normal.

When was this website last active? What was it about?
Sadly it is determined as "down" and returns only a placeholder screen

Hmmm, not sure what website you're talking about, DC.

Julie, they seem to be referring to the original post for this thread, that references http://thefuckingweather.com/
Sadly the site just says "We'll be right fucking back".
The last update to the site appears to be March of this year: https://web.archive.org/web/20210317080314/http://www.thefuckingweather.com/

Oh yea, I forgot about the webarchive.
Hmm, so it was just a simple albeit crass regional weather report website, too bad it's not been kept up, I love little gems like these

Summer still hanging on. Will be in the 80s most of the week. Flowers and tree leaves are slowly dying though...
