Pretty Much The Same, Thunderstorms brought the temperature way down from what it was yesterday. Today was nice and it's suppose to stay nice for the next couple of days. (yesterday was murder for the horses, they stayed in the barns under the fans).

Ugh, 93F is hot when coupled with high humidity.  Our Monsoon is on it's way.  Today we had rain in Nogales and as far north as Green Valley.  We could see the wall of storm clouds in Tucson, but no rain yet.

Today it was 106 F in Tucson.  Now at 10 pm it is 95F.  Thank goodness for AC!

Tomorrow we are expected to reach 110F.

The people that died over the weekend were hiking!  That's right, hiking in 116F heat.

I feel bad about the people who died but WTF were they thinking, Hiking when it's 116?

Feel a little guilty, it's sunny and about 82 here with low humidity.

One can hike in those temps but need to keep hydrated at all times. Some salt pills also would help.  And keep one's head covered.  Some think just because the humidity is low the 100 + temps will not be that bad.  Not true.

The hikers were from outside the area.  One pair was from Germany.  It is thought they simply were not aware of the danger.

I suspect if you've never experienced heat stroke before it is hard to understand.

I pull my horses in when the temperature and humidity start climbing.
When it hits around 85 - 90 degrees I start looking at the humidity. If it goes much higher (temperature) The horses come in and go under the fans. Heat Stroke does not just happen to people, Horses do terrible in hot weather, they much prefer cold weather (they love snow, as long as they have food).
I've been in Dubai where the summer temperature can climb to 136 degrees easily, and the humidity is zero, it's dangerous, sunburn (severe sunburn can happen very quickly). I won't move horses into the middle east until November or December.
Hiking in 116 degrees does present certain problems, but they aren't insurmountable when you take the proper precautions.

Love,
Liz

Our weather is insignificant really except... overnight last night continuous downpours, thunder and lightening... Rain most of the morning... brightened up and we had sunshine... soon after it clouded up... thunder again and then the downpours again... now the sun is out although storms are forecast overnight again...

Oh and it's been close and muggy all day...

It is trying to rain here.  I woke up to overcast skies.  It is still overcast and sprinkling a bit here and there.  According to the internet it is currently 94F, with 23% humidity, but it feels cooler and the humidity feels higher.

Just finished moving furniture in the yard and I feel like a soggy old mop.

Gosh Lois, I feel for you.    Touched 92 yesterday and it was tough.   Too much sun.    Then another rough day today.   Nothing compared to what you're going through.

Stay comfy as possible.

Thanks!

We had our first big monsoon storm today.  Lots of rain over 1/2 hour.  We had mini river running down the street.  Our Monsoon has come early.  I love it!

Same here, MintJulie, but sun is preferable over gray skies and cold.  8) Supposed to be only in low 70s here tomorrow thanks to the winds blowing down and across the lake.

Lois - glad you got the rains.  The desert should look pretty for a while.

Forecast high today - 23C with possible thunderstorms late afternoon/early evening.

My brother and sister-in-law are in Phoenix right now. They posted a pool side picture where the sister-in-law was floating in a chaise in the pool. Temperature at the time was 109F . She complained later that she got a sun burn. I just kinda laughed that it couldn't happen to a better person.

That is all.

Was warm and very humid today but at least we got some much needed rain.  Maybe some storms tonight.

Not bad today...only in low 100's here in Dubai.
Headed for Frankfort, Germany on the 30th, then to Kuwait on the 1st of July.
Then back to Germany and onward to JFK.
(sometimes moving horses, isn't the fun job people think it is).
I'll let you know about Kuwait and the temperature (usually in the summer it's about 130 degrees ((worse in August)).

Love,
Liz

It reached 100F today.  The Monsoon rains have really brought the humidity up.  Right now it is 89F and the humidity is 40%.  It feels soggy outside.

And of course yesterday my car failed its emissions test and the AC died.  *sigh*
