34 years ago was my last day in the army.  It was the second Friday the 13 that year also.

Statistically, Friday 13th is about the safest date of the year - fewest car accidents, fewest hospital admissions and [I think] fewest insurance claims.

Of course, that could be a consequence of superstition (folk unconsciously taking care on an auspicious day), but, still, there you go.
