A few years ago I would have publicly shouted you down. Now that I'm a huge fan of the Old Fashion, I find adding something to bourbon to be more acceptable. Adding simple syrup and a couple of dashes of bitters is not much different than adding Coke.
Putting it in Evan Williams is okay. Using a pricier bourbon I'd suggest using something cheaper, UNLESS you use a higher proof bourbon, something in the high 120, low 130 range, but that comes at a much higher price normally. That higher proof will definitely change in taste from a lower proof, and will take away part of the bite of something in the 130 range.

A while back I remember sneekingnout and being with a bunch of friends, and one of the guys brought a bottle of Evan Williams. We all drank from it, but I got so sick. It was awful. I barely remember being laid in the back of my cousins truck because they didnt want me inside of anybodies car. I spent the night at a friends house and was still drunk around noon when I finally went home. Mother tried grounding me, but two nights later I was out again.

Since then even seeing the label at a liquor store makes me gag.

Oh, and coffee for me.

I have a hard time keeping alcohol my house, because with two young men, liquor seems to disappear faster than I can buy it. They both hate Evan Williams, so I buy it, because it usually lasts a little longer than the good stuff.

And Shiela, I totally get it. My first horrible drunk was on Cutty Sark scotch. I got so sick. I was deathly sick for two or three days. Turned myself inside out, I threw up so much. I can’t see that yellow label without feeling a little sick again.

Not sure it was Cutty Sark, but very likely as my grandfather did buy that brand, but same. That and he drank gin, which btw does not mix well with scotch. It was decades later before I could drink either.

I’m still on a margarita rocks kick with the grand marnier floater, except I’m diluting the marg mix with a splash of tonic water and some fresh lime.

Woodford Reserve Double Cask is pretty darn amazing and spicy, but you will be paying $$ for that. I can understand not wanting to spend the extra when people are sniping it from you.

These fuckers in my house, and I include my wife in this, are the worst moochers imaginable. I bought my own refrigerator and put a padlock on it. They still eat my cheese, my pate, my crackers, my booze. They take my lube out of the nightstand! Ever gone to get some lube and there’s an empty bottle there?!?! I swear, this lotto ticket comes in, I’m history.

Eagle Rare, Blanton's, Four Roses, George T Stagg, Maker's cask strength is what I have been drinking in an OF.
Pretty much every Buffalo Trace product.
My regular is Eagle Rare these days. Good thing I bought 12 bottles in November because I haven't seen it on a shelf lately.
