The Laundromat with Meryl Streep

Interesting take on how shell companies are formed to avoid paying state and federal taxes.

Terminator: Dark Fate.

Yeah, I didn't pay to watch it. It doesn't even come out till Friday.

Awful. Just awful.

Spoilers: Look away if you have to. Too late: John Connor is killed at the beginning. His character was completely pointless.

Motherhood seems to be an awful thing now. And so is femininity. The new John is some Mexican girl who looks about as threatening as toilet paper and they turn her into a masculine mess. Her savior is also a masculine mess. Sarah is old and... a masculine mess.

It's clear what they were doing with this movie. Killing off the white male savior and replacing him with some Mexican girl no one cares about who becomes, basically, a man. The T-800 is a joke. He's married and likes to decorate.

James Cameron, apparently didn't have anything to do with this movie and apparently has said he doesn't really care about Terminator. It shows. Holy fucking fuckety fuck does it show! This was absolutely horrible. I'd rather watch terminator salvation again, and that was a boring and awful mess.

Even wifey was like "they killed off John Connor and replaced him with this useless, but hot, Hispanic girl? Terminator and star wars have something in common now. They both suck so bad I don't want to watch them anymore."  :emot_laughing:

They really downplay women being just women and push them being so fucking masculine it's disgusting. Natalia Reyes is a beautiful woman, who's actually older than me by the way  ;D but they turn her into a man. I'm not even kidding.

Don't bother paying for this. I'm glad I didn't. Skip it until you can watch it for free.

Two thumbs down from CJ and her wifey.

Two family members watched a South Korean hack of Dark Fate last night.  I lasted about two minutes before excusing myself.

2019 was a piss poor year for movies.

CJ really liked Joker, and that was about it.

Terminator: Woke Fate. Killed John Connor, replaced him with some irrelevant girl they turned masculine. They also made the point of the first two movies absolutely irrelevant because there was no point in ensuring John survives. If he'd been killed it didn't matter because even some Mexican girl as intimidating as a wet paper bag can lead the world to victory over machines. The machines, by the way, were just Skynet with a different name. They didn't even really try. It sucked. Franchise terminated.

Star wars: The ruse of Soywalker. My lifelong star wars dork wifey absolutely hated this movie. It made no sense, and it also destroyed the legacy of what came before. What was the point of Vader tossing the old fart down that shaft? No point as it turns out. He somehow survived that. Survived the whole moon size death star exploding. Survived riding debris through space and crashing on the planet of teddy bears and then hitched a ride to some shitty planet where for 30 some odd years he fucked around doing evil guy shit. Then at the end Mary Sue not only takes the name of the character people liked, but she stole all his shit. In the end none of the movies really mattered. Also, the emperor guy wanted the girl to kill him so he could take over her body or some shit. She did kill him, so he... got what he wanted? So did he take her over? I fucking don't know, it was a god damn mess.

Didn't really care for anything released last year except Joker.

Top Gun and Ghostbusters is all I care to see in 2020.

Home Alone 1 and 2 are exactly the same fucking movie except the little shit is "lost in New York". That, and those parents should have lost custody of their children. They abandoned their son twice, and treat him like garbage. In the second movie, Buzz embarrasses Kevin during the school play and despite his mother obviously seeing what he did to Kevin, he's still entirely to blame. They even treat the douchebag like he's the victim.

He should have stayed lost in New York and away from his awful family and dangerously neglectful parents.

And now Disney is remaking it, which is absolute unbelievable nonsense. Modern technology completely negates the plot.

Did you know the original plot was much darker?  Uncle Frank was jealous of Kevin's dad and his success so he highered Marv and Harry to rob the house when they left on vacation.  They felt it was too cruel for a.christmas movie so they changed it to what it became.

Thanks Sheila. Another tidbit I can add to my "I didn't know that file".
Next question is: Do I really want to know that? :D

Did you know Kevin's brothers girlfriend he called a "woof" was a boy in girls clothes because they didn't want to make fun of a girl, but it was perfectly fine to dress a boy up as a girl and make fun of him?

An oldie but a goodie was on the other day - Casablanca. The more I watch it, the more innuendos I catch Bogie saying and the censors somehow missed.

I have the DVD. Along with the movie is a feature on the making of the movie, including interviews with some people involved in the movie.

My favorite factoid was a guy talking about the scene towards the end at the airport. The airplane in the background was a one-third size cardboard cutout with midgets in coveralls by the plane as mechanics.

For lovers in of the movie ( like me) it's worth having the DVD for this feature.

Wargames is free with ads on YouTube. No secret it's one of my all time favorites.

But that movie would have made a way better Terminator sequel.

I watched Ford vs. Ferrari last night.  If you are a gearhead, it’s about as perfect a movie I’ve seen since The World’s Fastest Indian.  But there are so many other storylines running through the movie... best friends, husband wife, father son, unrealized dreams, and the asshole man in a suit.

The movie is nominated for Best Picture, but the real Oscar worthy performance is Christian Bale, as racer Ken Miles.  I thought he looked too old for the part, until I learned that Miles was 47 (the same age as Bale), when he raced at LeMans.

Anyway, I seldom shed a tear over an automotive movie, but this one had me close a few times.

I LOVED Ford vs Ferrari.   I though I had posted about it, but I guess not.
I think we watched it in late November.

Besides those primitive computers and cold war era paranoia.... well, the computers anyway. People are still afraid of Russia. The computers are better though. Not mine right now, but they are.

I remember those computers fondly.  I bought my first one in 1983, the year this movie came out.  No hard drives.  You used those 5.5” floppies.

CJ finds old tech fascinating. How we went from that to this. Like how there were touchscreens in the 80s and were primitive, but now they're everywhere.

I remember those in the computer lab at the University, but no student had the balls to wield an 8” floppy.
