Mmmm... Anne Hathaway as Catwoman... I avoided these because i like the Tim Burton touch of the first two and that was part of way i preferred those two. Not to mention Michael Keaton's portrayal of Batman.

The only worth one seeing was The Dark Knight and that was for Heath Leadger's performance as The Joker! I'm not really wild about Bale as Batman and this next one looks like crap to me!

Hey, TC! Good to see you and thanks for weighing in on the new Batman movie. I agree, i'm not really into this recent Batman series, it doesn't have that Tin Burton touch that made Batman and Batman Returns so great.

I was a big fan of the first Batman movie, I think Keaton (surprisingly) was a great choice as Batman, not so much any of them after that.  They got progressively more over the top and farther away from the Batman comics.  The current series seems to be heading in a similar direction, the first one with Ledger as Joker was great, an awesome film that even non-Batman fans could enjoy.  The Dark Knight, not so much.  Anne Hathaway as Catwoman?  Not excited about that one, but can't be as horrible as Jim Carrey's Riddler!!

the Nolan films have been two of the most overrated movies ever

first, a Welshman should not play Bruce Wayne (no matter how many steroids he's on)

Scarecrow and Two-Face got screwed out of major story time

Ra's al-Ghul is an Arab, not an Irishman who hides behind a Chinese decoy

Joker was OK but gets overhyped because Heath Ledger died  :'(

as much as I love the idea of Anne Hathaway in skintight vinyl, her costume is absolutely godawful

Tom Hardy is going to be the film's only saving grace
if you have any doubts about him playing Bane, I suggest you see the movie "Bronson"

I have to disagree with you Mr. Dream on a few of those.

Joker was great. His performance was wonderful and completely ingrained with that character now, just as Mark Hamill or Cesar Romero's.

I also find it hilarious that you condemn most of the portrayals but support Bane. Bane was originally South American not cockney. Reading the reviews doesn't cast too much support either when most of them say that with the accent, wheezing and speaking through the mask is only audible 50% of the time. I haven't seen much of Tom Hardy but no acting chops can save him if he is that hard to understand.

Who cares if Bale is Welsh or not, he is constantly mistaken for being a American and frankly does a decent job as Batman just as Cillian Murphy does a interesting job and Crane. My bigger problem is if whether or not Nolan even tried to get Americans in the series. I've seen the cast listings and for both films their pretty much 95% English actors. Now, Tom Wilkinson was horrible. Horrible accent, not that great of performance but hey, he is (a legend and) like Nolan, English, so he has to be in it. Wayne's parents, you name them, most of the actors aren't American and to me, puzzling as to why. (It's bad enough he have to sit through the same actors over and over again in his films...)

As for Ra's I don't know, I've heard his performance in a few cartoons and really don't care either way. I liked David Warner's performance in the Animated Series and thought he was well handled in the Arkham City game. So his nationality is of no importance to me.

I agree about Catwoman. Those early shots of Hathaway in that outfit doesn't do it for me. Catwoman can have long hair but something just lacks for Hathaway. Give me Lee Meriwether or Julie Newmar any day.

And finally, I'm not sure that more films are classifiable as "rumored" when the new head of Warner Bros. first took over, he explicitly stated that he would mine out the DC catalog, which includes a fresh reboot series of Batman right after Nolan's trilogy ends.

Hugo.
Went yesterday, we had the cinema to ourselves (apart from a humungous bag of popcorn and a bin sized coke).
I enjoyed this filum, 3D as it should be with snow flakes in the auditorium. Good actors including the child lead, but emotion was fleeting and the action a bit slow at times so not one for younger children or those similar with a short attention span.

Two hours and forty minutes, but not a minute dragged. I had resisted the book and the Swedish original (which I will rectify now) and so I came to this movie fresh as it were.
The leading lady, Rooney Mara,  was mesmerising, an American actress with true acting ability. I'm sure we will see more of her, although we did get to see most of her in this movie, every inch was hard, yet beautiful and the scene were she is raped by her social worker were handled with care that did not mark her character as in any way a victim. The plot was played out until the poignant ending at a pace that was not slow nor fast and needed your concentration, but didn't pall. If you haven't yet seen this I recomend you do.

I saw all three of the Swedish movies but did not read any of the books. Enjoyed immensely all three, especially Noomi Rapace, the actress who starred in the trilogy. Have not seen the new version but have read they will also remake the other two.

I watched all three of the Swedish trilogy. I was captivated by them all. The leading lady was perfect for the role. I saw the American version last week. It was good but not nearly as dark. I enjoyed it. I want to see the American last two. Then I want to read them......Will see if the Americans can get it right. They did alright so far...

Because of a love of silent films, I just watched The Artist today.

Amazing film. I thought it was very fun and deserving of any awards it may win. I haven't seen a lot of films in the last year but really glad that I made sure I didn't miss this one.

It just disappoints me that a film like this won't get pulled into mainstream more. (Saw a post on IMDb saying its too bad that it's not in color. Made no sense why it should be in black and white/would of been better in color.)

...Oh, and that people could actually say that using music from Vertigo is rape. That's pretty sad too...

Went to the late Sunday night showing of Sherlock Holmes:Game of Shadows, I thought the movie was very well done.  Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. work very well together in this series.

On a side note... Went with a new girl "friend".  Mid way through the show I started kissing her and ended up getting my first ever movie theater blow job :aol_fellate:, and she got her first ever pussy eating :aol_cunniling: in the same theater.  Have no idea what happened through half the movie, but I think it was one of the best movies I've ever been to. :sign_imho:

The Grey
Liam Neeson (very good,) dregs of oil workers, plane crash, the few survivors battle a pack of unlikely large wolves. They get eaten one by one and battle with pointy sticks and the odd shotgun shell, fall off cliffs, drown until finally leaving Neeson who finds himself at the wolves den surrounded by the pack and the alfa preparing to attack. He arms himself with a knife and tapes miniature spirit bottles to the knuckles of his other hand, crouches down in preparation.

THE FUCKING END
:emot_dunno:
addendum: Actually the end comes after the credits when there is one elderly customer  in the theatre, still trying to make his way out.
Epic fail!!

The Thing (2011).

I love John Carpenter's the Thing. Its among my favourite horror movies so when I heard about this prequel I was excited and a little apprehensive. The good news is it's not a bad movie and it's pretty respectful of the original. The bad news is it's not exactly necessary. There's nothing new learned about the alien here and, since it's a prequel you know the ending straight from the get go. The movie tells the story of the Norwegian research station which you might remember from the original, from the discovery of the alien vessel leading all the way to the first scene of John Carpenter's original. To those who have seen the original there will be few surprises here. While the movie at times feels almost like a remake rather than a prequel, unfortunately the tension between the group was downplayed in favour of more obvious horror, the thing often transforming into grotesque figures to chase characters rather than infiltrating their ranks and picking them off one by one. The use of CGI rather than animatronics takes a little from the overall feel of the movie too. However, thrills are delivered quite well and there are some well done suspenseful scenes. Overall, a competent and reasonably entertaining film that is inferior to the original in more or less every way. Not essential but worth a watch if you're a fan of the original.

I didn't like the "original" John Carpenter film, but when I saw the trailer for this one I was excited. Ends up, I waited too long (2 weeks after it was released) and it was already gone out of my local theater. I am definitely trying to keep a eye open for it on DirecTV or something.

Saw Wrath Of The Titans recently and it was really good! It was a really good story this time around with a lot more action and tons of F/X to keep me glued to my seat. This time around Perseus must help save Zeus and the world from an attack from Zeus' Father, Kronos who's brought back by Ares and Hades. I really liked seeing Rosamund Pike as Andromeda. I have not seen her since 2002's James Bond film Die Another Day. She is still very talented and stunning to look at! Sam Worthington as Perseus is always a treat, good acting from Sam again, can't wait to see him in Avatar 2. Bill Nighy was really good as Hephaestus, Édgar Ramírez as Ares did a really good job, made you want to hate Ares even more. The rest of the cast Danny Huston as Poseidon, Ralph Fiennes as Hades and of course Liam Neeson as Zeus always gives great performances when you see them! If you liked Clash of The Titans you'll love seeing Wrath of The Titans!

Saw today The Cabin In The Woods about five college students, Dana (Kristen Connolly), Curt (Chris Hemsworth), Jules (Anna Hutchison), Marty (Fran Kranz), and Holden (Jesse Williams) who drive out for a vacation to a remote cabin in the woods. What they don't realize is while they are out there, two technicians keep an eye on the students with hidden cameras not knowing they've set them up for murder. It was a very different kind of horror/slasher kind of film one I didn't expect to see. Looks like they were trying to stay away from the "typical" horror film and try something new which was good, best to keep horror movies fresh so they don't go stale. Was cool seeing Chris Hemsworth in a different kind of role other than playing Thor. Hope to see him in more film roles cause he did a great job with this one.

Saw Snow White and The Huntsman today with Kristen Stewart as Snow White, Charlize Theron as Queen Ravenna and Chris Hemsworth as Eric, the Huntsman based on the Grimm's Fairy Tale. I really liked it a lot, made the classic tale more intresting and got away from the typical Disney version with the cute Princess is the damsel in distress from the wicked Queen and saved by the Prince. In this Snow White is still the Princess, but has a heart of steel so to speak, actually a pure heart which can be the weapon in saving her kingdom from the evil Queen Ravenna her Stepmother. Kristen Stewart did a fantastic job in the role of Snow White. Even though she's hated for being the "Twilight" girl she can really act. I've seen it before from her other movie roles and I saw it more in this film. People need to give her a break, stop hating her and know this girl has some talent. If you like the classic fairy tale and are into fantasy worlds this one is for you!

Saw The Apparition today with Ashley Greene, Sebastian Stan & Tom Felton. All I have to say it was a waste of $8.00! Only thing that was good about it was the actors especially Ashley Greene I only went to see it for her,but the story was lousy! If it was better written and had a better director with scarier effects and more violence & nudity I would've been happy, but alas it disappoints. Should have saw The Expendables 2!
