He was excellent in The Wicker Man as well, though in the end he died as well. Frickin' ruined an otherwise well done movie.

I actually paid good money to go see that movie instead of the Mark Walberg football movie that came out at the same time. I'm very picky about what movies i'll pay to see at the theater. But I really enjoyed The Wicker Man. The directing was very good, the story, acting, the suspense. I was very happy with the movie. Until the crazy islanders sacrificed Nicolas Cage and then set up the next patsy. Really burned me up.

I finally saw Warm Bodies.

Ok, it was a sappy Zombie movie, and I loved it. Color me sentimental.

The movie was ok, C+ maybe, but enjoyable. The directing was awesome, really felt like the original period piece and the acting was good too... but the story was dull and predictable. There were quite a few logical flaws in the story but that is ok as this is a combination spy/humor movie but there were no real twists.

Not a must see movie by any means but if you are looking for a light summer movie (and particularly if you are of a certain age), you will like this movie.

I'd like to recommend one you may have missed:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0339072/

I liked it more than most of the other comedies I've seen in the last 10 years.  Set in Roman-era England, the three female protagonists do an excellent job of leading Ceasar's legions astray.  You'll kick yourself if you pass on this one!  ;D  The review at IMDB is pretty much spot on my feelings.

Cast:  Doon Mackichan (Dwyfuc), Fiona Allen (Smirgut the Fierce), Sally Phillips (Worthaboutapig), David Hayman (General Rhinus), Ronan Vibert (Caesar), Pam Ferris (Mrs Goatsplitter)

Here's the storyline:
When a particularly sissy Caesar orders his general Rhinus to proceed with the conquest of Britain, which is just a mosaic of inter-warring Celtic tribes related to the Gauls he already subjugated, those send Marcosivellauniviromandiboule (aka Young Gaul) to the Dubonni, a measly tribe where three sisters play a leading role, and therefore see the messenger foremost as an ideal catch for the unmarried youngest; his bed-test goes great, while a Roman attack on the rivaling neighbor Kent tribe is welcomed without any strategic foresight. Nevertheless the Roman war machine rolls on, so war must be engaged, however again in their, female-shaped way.

PM me if you can't find it - Google hint: gladiatress rarelust
alternately, you can watch it online here:  http://vodlocker.com/jvcu6ehgeddf

Cowboys vs dinosaurs.

I just saw it on Comet TV. I never heard of it. But if you want the absolute worst CGI and laughably ridiculous firearm usage ever seen in a movie, then here ya go.

I particularly enjoyed the scene where the black dude and the dumb girls are shooting dinosaurs and they're just flailing the guns around with terrible muzzle flashes and the black dude using a machine gun with belt fed ammo, but the belt of ammo never moves because it's obviously not really firing because it's probably just a painted toy gun and they thought it was a great idea to put in empty CGI bullet casings flying out of the gun anyway  :emot_laughing:

All Things Must Pass:  The Rise and Fall of Tower Records

For anyone who ever went into one of their stores, either to buy or just browse the vast collection of music, this is a very good movie about how one person started his first store in Sacramento, CA in 1962, hired family and friends to run the store and each of them moved up the chain as they expanded both nationally and internationally. An especially good documentary as it related to the business side.

I watch a re-run last night "Ice Station Zebra"....great movie.
All those great actors (and Jim Brown of football fame) some at their best.
All gone, I don't think any are left alive.

Legend of Tarzan??    Reviews are a bit mixed.    I think I want to see it, just waiting for a rainy day.

Star trek beyond was good. Not great. Alien chick was hot. My wife asked me if I'd fuck her, I said no, she said right answer, white girl.  :D

If it hadn't been planned as a micro-budget horror-comedy, it would have fallen on it's face.  The comedy angle was it's only saving grace.  This one belongs in the Troma portfolio...  ;D  Dunno how they missed funding it!
