I don't usually pay much attention to music.  I have one station I enjoy listening to in the car, but can only recognize a few names and fewer song titles...it's pretty much background to me.

However...a few weeks ago, my station started playing a new hit "Dance Monkey", a young lady with a super high pitched voice, that cuts my brain to shreds every time it comes on. I've even muted the radio until I was sure it was over.

A couple days ago the artist, Toni Watson, who goes by Tones and I, on the label, was on TV. She talked about getting her start by living in her van and busking on the streets.  I had to admit...I admire her for following her dream and doing what she had to do to achieve that.  It's paid off with a number one hit in several countries!

So, my opinion on the song now.  Still think it's horrid and can't understand the appeal it's having with so many. Do I need to start worrying about the youth of the world? :D

Well trained and been made compliant....by my cat Neville

Considering it won an ARIA for Best Breakthrough Artist...

  • I said it's weird, not that I wouldn't do it.

I actually like the song, not enough to out it on any playlist, but I dont shy away from it.  It is a very unique song only made better by her backstory.
