All week, I have had the same issue. I go to the restroom and when I get back, there's a blue light on to let let me know that my computer is running a program in the background. Videos will slow to a crawl, or just freeze. I do a restart. This takes 15 minutes because "Windows is getting ready. Do not turn off your computer" appears on the screen. Ideas? Advice?

May be a drive issue, or something in the operating system is causing a update loop. I suggest attempting to let it go through its update cycle, and take note of how long it takes. If it takes longer than two hours then there is a serious issue that may need a professional to fix.

Windows and Google Chrome.

The blue light is located under the Off/On switch

You mean the drive activity light? That could be going because of background activity. If the system is older it could be slow for a lot of reasons. I like to wipe and reinstall my os every month or os, it keeps things running smooth.
