St. Paul native Joe Mauer was elected to Baseball's Hall of Fame. He achieved the honor on his first time being considered for inclusion to the ranks of baseball's greatest.

I've long been an admirer of Mauer. He was a local boy who made good. A high school school, he went on to join the Twins organization and spent his whole career with the local team.

Joe was a class act on and off the field. He always made time to help young kids who were interested in the game.

Congratulations Joe on your selection to baseballs hall of greatness.

Both have earned a place in the Hall. Mauer retired with a .306 career batting average. Beltre had over 3000 hits and a career average of .286.

The third played elected this year, Todd Helton, had over 2500 hits and a career batting average of .316. I'm surprised it took so long for Helton to be voted in (this was his last year of eligibility).

All very good players deserving of the Hall of Fame.  And none needed steroids to obtain their fame.

And none needed steroids to obtain their fame.

Are there any (known) steroid users in the Hall of Fame? They’ve kept Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez, and Manny Hernandez out. Wondered if anyone else slipped in?
