As the federal government has abdicated it's responsibility to protect the southern border, the state of Texas has had to handle protecting the border alone. Its troopers, through July 22, have also been involved in 546 vehicle pursuits and have seized more than 4,800 pounds of cocaine and methamphetamines, 936 firearms and $7.8 million dollars in the areas of the Rio Grande Valley, Del Rio, Big Bend and El Paso, the department says.

The troopers are just doing their job.  Don't give any creedence to Gov. Abbot's grandstanding. These arrests would have happend anyways.

As a Texan who spends some time in the Valley, I feel qualified to say, this is all political theater. Grandstanding, and giving Fox News something to talk about. Because we all need to be afraid of people of a different color, who were born in a different country. All the locals feel like they are under occupation down there. And there are so many black and whites racing up and down the roads, most people are just staying off the roads. I myself have been pulled over. But because I’m a white old dude, I just got a warning. If I had been brown, I would’ve been pulled out of the car and pistol whipped. Fuck governor Abbott. He wants to be a Mark DeSantis, but he’ll never be that crazy. But he’s going to try.
