The devil went down to Georgia, lookin' for a soul to steal.

He didn't get Charlie Daniels though.  Charlie Daniels is sitting on the porch in heaven singing and playing his guitar.

He was one of mine and my daddy's favorites.  We both loved the song The Devil Went Down to Georgia.

Charlie Daniels suffered a stroke this morning.   83 years old.   He did so much for country music.   Loved this man.

Simple Man and A Country Boy Can Survive were my favorites, but most everybody knows him for The Devil Went Down to Georgia.

"Fire on the Mountain" Run, boys, run!
The Devil's in the house of the rising sun
Chicken's in the bread pan picking out dough
Granny, will your dog bite? No, child, no

“I told you once, you son of a bitch, I’m the best there’s ever been.”

Grew up on his music.  Many memories associated with it. R.I.P.

Listening to Charlie was one of life's pleasures. His music went straight to the soul.

As he left this world I'm sure he gave the devil a big FU on his way to the Pearly Gates.

Well trained and been made compliant....by my cat Neville

RIP Charlie. You brought fiddling to the masses and your hit song that started and topped the Country charts went over to the Rock charts and was a great success.

“I told you once, you son of a bitch, I’m the best there’s ever been.”

In an interview several years ago he said that he had changed that line in concerts to 'son of a gun'. "Mellowing out in my old age," he said.

As much as I like that song, my absolute favorite is one that doesn't have as much of an impact as we get further removed from the 70s. I just listened to it and yep, it still cracks me up.

Thanks Charlie, for sharing all your talent.
