Why are users so reluctant to state their gender? I like to know if I am talking to a male or female

GENDER???  Why does everyone now say gender when they mean sex??  Gender is for those studying language or putting togetner computer connectors.  I think some of the PC people got loose on our language again.

BTW, if there is any confusion, I am a male-RHL
