The Majority of Americans Favor a "Pathway to Citizenship"

A new CNN/ORC poll released today indicates that the majority of Americans favor a "Pathway to Citizenship" for undocumented immigrants. According to the poll:

* 54% say the top priority for the government in dealing with the issue of illegal immigration should be developing a plan that would allow undocumented immigrants with jobs to eventually become legal U.S. residents.

* Barely 40% say the main focus should be developing a plan for stopping the flow of undocumented immigrants into the U.S. and for deporting those already here.

* Only 35% of Americans support the new Republican plan to give undocumented immigrants legal status to stay in the U.S., but not allow them a pathway towards citizenship. More than 60% opposed such a plan.

I'm up here in Canada (a successful case of US brain drain) because the barrier to get my wife into the country is incredibly unreasonable.  The US's immigration policies are just insane AND as an American I'm still require to report income and pay taxes to uncle sam even though I don't reside nor work there anymore.

The American immigration system needs to be reformed.  Trump is just making things worse.

My brother, and his wife moved up to Vancouver Island a few years back, and they payed Double Taxes (US, and Canadian) for a while too.  

However, they're still not branding Canadians as "Criminals" rounding them up, and separating families by legal status, because you can't look at them, and tell they don't belong here, eh?

I would just like the laws, any laws to be applied equally.  Instead of having 1 standard for Canada (They have money, so just tax them, and fine them for revenue) and Mexico (Deportation, raids, incarceration, and threatening parents through their children to force them to comply.)
