If you choose to hear me say something I am not saying, go ahead, that's your way of doing things.
You are comparing Hollywood stars to the girl who lives next door, the waitress at your favorite restaurant, the girl who you talk to every day while you're waiting for the bus.  Your wife, your daughter, your girlfriend...
Apples to oranges...
They take care of their own, and never work a day of their lives.

This is not a social status issue.

Most of them actually work very hard.  And yet it seems actors and actresses have less protections from sexual harassment than the girl next door or a secretary.

And Athos is right, it's not a social status issue.  Everyone should be respected.  No means no.

I think a larger point I wanted to make here is this,
and I am not talking about this case or anything involved with it.
When I get up in the morning and I am getting ready for work, I can
hear the news on the TV.  How much of this is actual news and how
much of it is mindless celebrity gossip/news/kiss-ass entertainment
scoop boggles the mind.  I mean it is all shit, all of it.
And I can't take our local movie critic seriously because he is also
the local entertainment reporter.  I can't turn the TV off because
my wife needs to fill the blank space before her eyes while I am in
the other room dressing, so I hear this stupid jerk talking about the latest
Kardashian nude selfie or I hear him interviewing some actor, laughing at everything
they say like some kiss-ass cocksucker.
So when I heard the Harvey Weinstein story break on that same morning news show, no wonder I said to myself, it's typical fucking Hollywood, and like anything in Hollywood, I don't care to hear about it.  I would rather hear about people who don't live and work in a dream world every day.

Then why don't you put on a "real" news station. Even CNN sounds more professional than this. Or, if you're truly interested in hard news, then put on NPR.

The Today Show, Good Morning America, etc., are not "news" programs.  They are "infotainment."  And yes, they have a lot of banter, celebrity gossip, and entertainment news.  But they do not claim to be news.

I have three apps on my phone:  Associated Press, CBS Radio, and NPR.  All three have an audio news feed that I listen to on the way work.  I record the three major network's evening news, and PBS.  That usually gets it covered (else I'm feeling suicidal by that point).  If I need something more there's BBC, The Guardian, and Al-Jazeera English, if you want perspective.  I also check RT and the Moscow Times, just to see what Putin is up to.

Point is, there are plenty of news sources.  I couldn't pick out a Kardashian in a lineup.  Maybe Bruce Jenner.

Actually, the news program I am talking about is one of the most respected local news stations and has been for years.  Everything else is top notch.  Maybe that's why it bothers me so much.  Great news, award winning weather coverage, and sports, which is major in my town.
With my antenna, it's all I can get in.
Oh well, I just hate Hollywood.

That's a shame because the film industry, including "Hollywood", creates our second largest export, adding $504 Billion to U.S. GDP every year.
