All I am saying is that the rhetoric that labels all people of an opposing view as something completely evil justifies the actions we saw in the links I posted.
I’m going to go one step further Irish slut. There might be damping down of media coverage of Antifa violence and incivility, but it’s also possible your experiences on a college campus gives you a heightened awareness beyond that say someone like myself might have. The internet allows us to apply all sorts of filters as to the news we chose to read.
As I said, it all depends on the media. The Center and Right cover it, the left ignores it (until Tucker) and the far left endorse the violence and the hate rhetoric.
So if you only get your news from the far left, then Antifa are righteous freedom fighters and there are Nazis everywhere. And that is echoed at a lot of institutes of higher learning (as you pointed out).
And if you only get your news from the Left, Antifa hardly exists and isn't really an issue. And, in some cases like the Proud Boy thing, are praised and painted as victims for losing a fight they started...but only when it can reflect poorly on the far right, otherwise it's ignored. The same with Charleston, where the media painted them as having no part in the violence, when, in actuality they instigated it (and this is NOT excusing the right for their actions).
And if you go to the right and far right, then Antifa is absolutely everywhere, it's just as bad as the far left in many regards.
But the fact is that when you paint a people as "other" be it for views and thought as the left is, or for race, sexuality, and gender as Identitarians are , for country of origin or immigration status like the right is. And then you label the "other" as "absolute evil" as we see the far left doing, and as we see here in threads like "party of hate" it creates a situation that allows people to justify attacking and harming other people for trivial differences.
And that is a fact, people like Jacques Ellul and Noam Chomsky (among many others) have devoted entire books to how that language enables people to act violently. That is the essence of propaganda. That is why it exists.
