gay marriage, sex, porn, you name it it comes down to this,

Federally enforced morality

I am conservative, (LOL and yes a perve) but really how the hell does the goverment get off enforcing 'morality' laws?

Rise up call your goverment representatives and tell them what you think

I disagree with what you say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it

I also agree. A government should not legislate morality.

yes, but! morality isn't just about sex/porn/gay marriage etc. surely morals (and ethics?) covers every kind of behaviour, from legal things such as telling the truth or lying, buying things legit or stealing them/downloading illegally, beating up someone i don't like or just letting them be.

i read an interesting definition of good and evil the other week. it's "what would happen if everyone did it - would it make the world a better place".

if governments used this definition, i wonder what their priorities would be. i imagine they would be interested in every part of people's lives, including their sexuality. but that would be way over the top, 1984 style...

i think really, governments should be concerned with damaging behaviour. i can't see how gay marriage is damaging, and as long as sex and porn are kept safe, i think governments should stay out!

The trouble with government legislating morality is that the laws being enacted might not reflect what the majority of the people wish. Government should not be allowed to pass laws that affect what goes on in the privacy of ones home, between two consenting adults. Thankfully, many of these laws are being allowed to lapse as times change.

Dunno how it works in other countries, but here in the US most of the 'morality laws' are up to each of the states to decide.  That's why Texas had a 'gay ban' until year before last.  I looked up the laws before moving here, and thought it was WILDLY inappropriate for the State to enact a legal ban on oral sex, anal sex and dildos.  They've all since been stricken from the books, but the 'gay ban' took escalation all the way up to the circuit court of the Supreme Court in Louisiana, as I recall.  The local idiots were MORE than happy to leave the law as-is until the Lawrence decision.  Even though I'm not gay, the original restriction forbade both anal AND oral, so I felt put upon.

To this day it boggles my mind how these ignorant rednecks could think they'd EVER get away with a law like that (for what goes on in the bedroom).

Remember the Golden Rule: you do me, and I\'ll do you (paraphrased)

I'm a libertarian fairly conservative politically but fairly progressive on this issue the government should not enforce moral issues. Unless of course there is a good reason such as child sexual crimes or child porn with real children naturally as suitable limits. But adults with adults unless its non-consentual is not the governments business at any level.

I'm gay, love Hentai especially rape and degradation of women by nasty demons and gang rapes by men of low character.
