While you're waiting in vain for that apology, why don't you make yourself useful by getting on your knees and opening your mouth

I cringe watching him stand there and get pounded like that.

But that pounding was his way of winning in the long run. Of course look at him now. Sad really

Would have been fun to see Ali tangle with Tyson when both were in their prime.

I think that might have been a much closer fight than many traditionalists like to admit. I agree that Ali was still better, but people tend to downplay the speed and skill Tyson demonstrated in his earlier career. It was only later in his career that he started loading up and trying to throw bombs while coming in straight up. When he fought Berbick, his head movement (and upper body movement)combined with his peek-a-boo style of defence made him a very difficult target to hit. Furthermore, in his early days, he used to always lead with this rare and mysterious thing called a left jab, after which he would throw combinations (not just bombs).

Comparing him directly to Frazier, I think he might have been more effective at getting on the inside than Frazier was. My only doubt is how he would have held up psychologically if Ali managed to win several rounds in a row.

I feel Tyson has a stronger hit and it would not have been as much of a fight. Feel Ali would have lost

Both were trained under Angelo Dundee. Tyson's mistake was he dropped Dundee. After that, he went downhill.  Ali was a smart boxer.  Tyson a brawler.  In both of their primes I think Ali would have danced around Tyson and with his longer reach, frustrated Tyson until Tyson opened himself up and then Ali would have done his "rope a dope" on him.

I don't believe Dundee ever trained Tyson. Cus D'Amato was Tyson's first big handler/trainer. That gave way to Kevin Rooney, who was Tyson's trainer for his ascent. You also had Teddy Atlas and finally Rich Giachetti (sp)

If Tyson had been up against Ali after he had come back from having his title stripped for refusing the draft I would agree. The Ali that fought Frazier was not the same Ali that fought Liston.

I'm not sure about the earlier Ali though. He was quite fast.

When Tyson joined Don King's group is when I think he started going downhill.
