I only got to hear it and it was rough to listen to. My kids watched it along with my wife. She left when they added the 2 minutes of extra time. She said it was bad enough to watch the 90 let alone make Brazil play another 2 minutes.

I can see the difference when men and women are viewing the same game.  I was cheering for Germany, for many personal reasons, but my wife, like you, Bexy and Coach's wife, felt sorry for the Brazilians and said they should have stopped the game after the first half.  Unlike sports when young children are playing, professional sports is a win or lose contest. No sympathy for the loser.

As for the Argentina-Netherlands match, I am old fashioned when it comes to football and can remember when games played extra 15 overtimes until someone scored.  I am not a fan of the penalty kick phase of the game.  Netherlands pretty much shut down Messi and I am sure Germany will do the same.

Germany should win on Sunday. The only way that game will be close is if Argentina pulls a fifth man back on defense and builds a new wall like they did to the Red Devils. Even with that I feel Germany has enough skill in their team to find a way around that and score.

Germany always had that skill but it seemed to take a bit for them to shine. That beating they gave Brazil might have just been the start of that light

The whole German team - well, the majority of them anyway, can score goals whereas the Argentinians are too heavily reliant on Messi. One man, Messi or not cannot overcome a team that are playing as well as the Germans.

Germany for the win.

You raise a good point in men and women seeing things differently, but I didn't say they should have stopped the game. I knew they could not stop the game, but that didn't prevent me from feeling sorry for the players. Perhaps men more easily shut out feelings of empathy when it comes to competition?

My wife never wanted the game stopped either, her feelings went towards the extra 2 minutes of stoppage time added at the end. The game itself was rough, time to let it die and move on. HELL, even my boys felt the extra at that point really was not needed. As much as I love seeing a team get crushed, at a point it is no longer enjoyable and it's just time to stop the bleeding.

Bexy, I knew you did not want the game stopped nor did Coach's wife. My mistake in wording it like you did.

Thank you, Whiskers.  It was a good match and Argentina played a very tough defense.  I am just glad the match did not go into the penalty kick phase.

GermanChick is enjoying the summer with her family. Busy time for her and many of us I presume.
