Imagine finding out that due to an administrative error, you have been declared legally dead.

Could have advantages.  The IRS couldn't prosecute you for non payment if your "dead".

Don't underestimate them

Simple, don't go to court, just your lawyer, with the government forms saying your dead.
"you're honor, the same people who are prosecuting her, admit she it dead"
