This past weekend, Saturday the 6th of October 2012, Peter and his band opened the tour at the Hollywood Bowl here in Los Angeles...


If you have read my story, "Sapphic Times at Oakwood High", you know that PG and his 'So' album is a romantic story point... particularly the Lloyd Dobbins/Say Anything connection...


So that said - this is how Peter performed the song Saturday night here in LaLa Land:

I think that's cool how artists celebrate an anniversary of an album's release by playing it from beginning to end. To me it makes the fans feel good knowing that their favorite musician(s) take a lot of pride in an album that sold the most and/or was a favorite among their fans worldwide. More artists should do that for their fans.

Peter Gabriel is very talented. I always enjoy his music and creative videos. A few years back he released the music video "The Barry Williams Show". Christopher McDonald from Grease 2 and the American Pie movies [Stifler the father] played talk show host Barry Williams with the real Barry "Greg Brady" Williams cameo-ing in the audience. Love that music video.

Peter Gabriel's 1986 album "So". It was Gabriel's fifth solo album and the first one to have a title (the others all having just been called "Peter Gabriel"). The album spawned a number of hit singles on both sides of the Atlantic including "Sledgehammer", "Big Time", "Don't Give Up" (a duet with Kate Bush) and "In Your Eyes" which drove "So" to multi-platinum sales, the No.1 spot in the UK and No.2 in the US.

"So" was very much an album of the MTV generation and the distinctive videos for tracks like "Sledgehammer", "Red Rain", "Big Time" and "Don't Give Up" were key factors in the album's success. The program features contributions from many of those involved in the making of the album and the videos including Peter Gabriel himself, co-producer Daniel Lanois, engineer Kevin Killen and musicians Jerry Marotta, Laurie Anderson, Tony Levin and Manu Katché amongst many.
